p.s. I think different than everything else looks are crucial... just hope that it is executed well. For instance Volt now looks like Cruze, which is a cookie cutter vehicle and thats a shame.

Agree with this totally. Here in Europe, one of the main reasons holding back Prius sales is that there are competitively prices Diesels with similar or better mpg than Gen3. These cars tend to be better at handling and overall refinement.

Looks wise, I am not sure what to think really until we see proper hi-res shots. I think some colours will be more suited to the Gen 4 design e.g. I am thinking either Grey or Dark Red will smoothen the tail lights and floating roof so I am hoping they offer a colour similar to NS4.

Now if Toyota has managed to get a 10% improvement in efficiency and improve on its overall weaknesses, I'd say it will do better than Gen3. If it offers AWD at this efficiency, that will be a game changer. If it manages to do all this plus improve on performance also, that will be a serious achievement - one that will worry many of its competitors.

I suspect this was not quite the problem with the reported "low fun" of the 3Gen.
195 is perfectly adequate for a 3000lb //135hp car, in terms of grip.
The 215 with the aggressive /45 sidewall ratio did not resolve, and quite the opposite, stole the comfort from this family car rides. I give 2 examples: Toyota GT86 (200hp sportscar) and Mini JohnCooperWorks (235hp sports supermini) both drive over 215 - the latter uses /50 sidewall. Why should Prius wear these "boots"? Rubbish.

Booh iPhone. Come on Apple, do something exciting, be more open :O

This reminds me of the Microsoft vs Apple competition. Apple was/is more closed while Microsoft concentrated on software for multiple vendors.

Android is the same thing and is winning. That's not to say the iPhone isn't awesome...just IMO boring to use now after using 5.1.1 Lollipop on old devices and being able to customize *anything* and replace batteries, MicroSDHC, etc, etc...Boo Samsung for now too lol

Being able to use a Micro Sd card is huge IMO. Can't do that with my 5s & ipad. I have 2 micro sd slots, 2 usb ports and 1 ipod connector that I can convert to an 8-pin in my Android 4.4.4 head unit in the Prius. So, go Android!

    Oops! back to topic!

I wish the new Prius will be at the Alt Car Expo. At least the Volt II will be there.

In case hasn't been mentioned, can we get several really good interior photos / shots since we know virtually nothing about that now?

    Thanks in advance

A friend drove in from houston this weakend. Her parents bought her a prius c, which we teased her about, she is a grown smart woman, strange that her parents wanted her in a newer car, and the dealer was giving them away. That's how I found out mom and dad bought it, she had no idea how cheap was cheap. Anyway she has an android phone, and was bitching that entune didn't work right with it only apple. I bought an aftermarket head unit because back in '09, toyota couldn't even work with iphone right on a gen III prius.

Anyway I doubt that they have changed and support android better on the gen IV, as her car was brand new. Android sells more, but a lot of us like our iphones, which means apple makes a much bigger profit than samsung/google. ios isn't open, but toyota can easily buy campatability for it cheaply from apple, android must be harder for them.

Either way, hopefully toyota improves entune to work better with phones. GM just added carplay, and that would be a good option for toyota to add also.

We should know more about the gen IV tomorrow. If it doesn't work with your phone, you can always replace the head unit like I did.

should work fine on Android though... she probably does not know how to pair it or download Entune app. Thats what they have service advisors for.

Don't get me started. I'm as much of an Apple hater as I am a fuel cell hater. ;p Samdung did screw the pooch by becoming Apple-lite and ditching the removable battery capability (128GB on the S6 renders the need for microSD moot fortunately). I won't bend over for a company who restricts me from easily changing out a battery again, no matter what other features it has (4K AMOLED).
