I'm a Toyota fan. My sister has an American built Corolla, my father an American built Tacoma and my mom an American built Camry... The country of manufacture matters less than the company that manufactures them. I own a Chinese built Honda scooter as well.
Now I am confused, are we speaking the same or not? Looks like you are in agreement with me on build quality? I have a Jeep Wrangler, fun truck, but expect something to break every now and then.
And yeah those are being made under contract by Subaru... That's the problem, not that those Camry's are built in the us. The frs/brz is made in Japan and have many many issues, ALL because of Subaru. The Mexican made Toyota vehicles would again be a new vehicle made in a new plant. Most all of their truck production left so it'd be all new everything. And fwiw the Mexican made Tacoma' s were apparently of lesser quality than the fremont ca plant trucks or San Antonio built Tacoma' s.
BTW, what issues are FRS/BRZ having? I have owned many Subaru's with never any issues, they are built as solid as all my Toyota's that I have owned? But I am a Toyota /Lexus fan too.
The vast majority of this issue is the parts used not where they're put together. The unintended acceleration was from the American made accelerators, the Japanese denso units if the exact same design used in all Japanese built Toyota' s and some us made ones were fine. MOST us made Toyota' s still use A LOT of Japanese made components. The frs/brz have high pressure fuel pump problems, transmission failures and the less important yet VERY embarrassingly common water in the tail lights. Some even have it while sitting on the lot before they are sold. Last I forget the paint quality problems. As well as cv joints going bad in less than 30k miles on less than 2 inch drop Springs.
The fuel pump apparently had to do with ethanol in the fuel but there is no fix yet. The tail lights are a pretty easy fix via buying 200 to 500 dollar aftermarket units. The transmissions? Yeah... rare, no fix and expensive.
Both are terric and indeed will sell well; but is that a drum brake on the rear? surely not. I have a Leaf for weekly use as I usually drive maybe 35 - 40 miles / day and I recharge at home with 240vac in 3-4 hours. My Prissy is a weekend car because that's when I travel. Last year my gas bill averaged $250 a month; this year $60. Leaf, which is my engineering evaluaton by far the best all-electric out there and I have drive all of them, including te eSpark. I congratulate Nissan for a job well done.
The 2015 Prius c is pretty much a carryover, with some minor changes to interior and front nose area.
I doubt the bumper will even change. But yes refresh at best. Lag is good unless you need much Highway capability. My friend with one won't take it over 20mi or as it may run out of range before she's back home.
well...it just came out a day or so now that the 2015 yaris will get a refresh and also borrow/coop with mazda and use the mazda2 chasis or w/e... so the prius c, might follow suit
Just saw it updated on the Toyota website... changes I like: 1. No more 1990s green-screen display for the climate controls 2. Digital display color seemed more bluish from their gallery photo 3. Nicer rims on the models one, two, three 4. Somewhat nicer two-tone trims on models two and three (no more "tuxedo" trim) 5. LED beams 6. Looks like all the packages have the touch-screen display 7. They all have the shark-fin antenna Not crazy about: 1. They changed the summer rain metallic to a more blue color (looks more like the Mazda aquatic blue) 2. They added an electric lime metallic (looks more like the Subaru Crosstrek SUV hybrid) 3. Star vents on models two and up... really? I wanted to see if the model 4 did anything with that space below the seat heater button but I couldn't find any pictures. Edit: Yes I did, they moved buttons and there now seems to be a new button to disable traction control (second pic)
Not sure about the newer rims/hub caps....Also the One still has the same vents as in the past. The Two, Three and Four have the star vents, which looks like something from a 2015 Mercedes as they are offering the same design, which I don't like! There are 11 colors to choose from. 4 new colors have been added and replaced some of the old colors. It now seems only certain colors are available based on the model you select.
Here are some pics I got of a '15... I like the taillights & shark fin. Interior vents look upgraded & more chrome shiny stuff inside. This was a C2 on the lot. Unfortunately, no sales people around to open it up for me, I wanted to see the lights on.
