I sincerely hope Toyota STOPS subbing out assembly to other brands. The frs/gt86/brz are riddled with quality control issues and are thus degrading Toyota' s reputation. Same thing with the Camry. And that's with Subaru building them who are leagues ahead of fledgling Mazda. May the gods be with us. Poor folks buying the Mexican Mazda Prius C expecting the Japanese made Toyota quality of just one model year before. This will tank Toyota' s image and real world initial quality reports. SGH-T889 ?
Yet again, please give links for this information on Mazda building the next Prius C which only you seem to have at the moment.
I know the new Yaris is set to be Co designed with the Mazda 2 but built by them? Let alone the Yaris based Prius C? To my knowledge is a mystery. I work with Toyota and have for almost 10 years. I'll poke and prod more soon. SGH-T889 ?
I've seen some Prius c designs for a convertible option. Not quite sure why anyone looking for a small engine, high mpg hybrid would want the extra weight and awful aerodynamics of a convertible top.
So the general consensus is that it will be a small update for 2015? Not a complete redesign? I'm in the market for a hybrid or all electric vehicle and I've owned a Toyota Yaris and I loved it and I know the Prius C is based off that car. Any suggestions or thoughts would be helpful. My only gripe is I live in Rural Northeastern PA and all electric may prove difficult to charge and maintain. Charging stations are hard to come by lol
There is no new all electric vehicle coming from Toyota any time soon. As far as Prius C it may or may not get a refresh, it most certainly is NOT going to be ALL NEW. SGH-T889 ?
Thanks for the info, I was looking at the new 2015 honda fit and a Nissan leaf. I would love a hybrid but gas mileage is my biggest concern.
Truth be told unless you have a less than 20 mi each way come the only pure electric that would work well would be the tesla model s. Not really in the same price range. SGH-T889 ?
I hesitated for about a week, then decided to go with the C three instead of the C two in Canada. I test drove the C One and said I needed a bit more inside the car and was hoping to see if a redesign would come out but my fiancee who is also a electrical engineer said likes the car for its engineering and doesn't mind sacrificing on a bit of looks =) So the Three was a perfect fit.
All I see from these sources is that Mazda and Toyota have collaborated on a plant. It says that they will be dual-producing the small cars. I read this to be the Yaris and maybe the Matrix. The Prius C is too intensive of a product to be sending to Mazda.
Sadly if this is true, my C will be the last C I buy, just as I would not by an American built Camry. If you buy a foreign car it should be built in the country its from.
Why buy a Japanese car if its not made there, why buy a German car if its not made there, why buy a Italian car if its not made there. Its part of the heritage and idea that it truly is a foreign car. You don't have to get it, but I do.
Doesn't matter to me if it's foreign or not, how it's built and what brand does. Lots of "American" cars aren't built here lol.
Exactly what? At least with Toyota they employ the same quality here as there. Certain models have had issues, normally first year the car was built in a new plant.
There is not one car on your list that was not built in its country of origin. I was told by a Honda mechanic that Japanese built cars are the best, Canadian built are 2nd and US built are 3rd in problems. So country of manufacture does play a role in quality of the vehicle.
