    I agree about the gap. I've been patiently reading the forum here about all the spring options. I want to install a set that will drop the car about an inch. I will probably do it this summer.

    To look good....yes. The other option (looks a lil odd) would be to get a bigger side walled tire

    I got all excited when I found a set of FR-S wheels locally!! $600, "bare wheels. 56.1 center bore"

    Then I read through this thread.
    I am now going to wait until we hear about the spacers require.

    When using spacers the center bore of the wheel does not fully engage that raised centering ring on the hub.
    The center bore has to center the wheel on the hub, Not the lug nuts. (I had a bad time using just the lugs)
    There are adapter rings for wheels with too large a center bore.


    And Buddy,,,,, Please say you are not driving with those wheels on just washers..

    Oh no.... I ordered these rims, as well as the MXM4's and both are to arrive this week. Now, I did ship them to my local tire shop so I'm hoping that their expertise will somehow find a way to make them work out. I sure hope this project isn't going to be a costly "do over". :(

    No I'm not driving it permanently with the washers. I needed them to clear the calipers so I could install the wheels and determine what size of a permanent spacer I need to come up with. I have been a technician for over twenty five years and believe me when I say that I've seen my fair share of damage caused by incorrect mounting of wheels. If I can't find a proper spacer on the web then I will have a friend CNC some for me with the proper step up hub dimensions. I must admit that I did drive it around the block a few times.:rolleyes:

    Good for you !! Let us know when you find a quality spacer.
    I have been talking to the person with a take off FR-S wheel set like yours.
    He has the original Michelin Primacy 215/45/17 tires. Tires and wheels have 10 miles on them. $800.
    I'd have to buy ~$182 worth of TPM's. Did you move your TPM's to your new wheels?

    If you guys tool up to make your own proper spacers think about selling a second set to me !
    But if these wheels are tight on the step up part of the hub now ( only engaging 3-4mm less) I can't see how to extend the step up. Are they tight on the center of the hub?

    Dang it, you guys are making me spend my tax refund.....

    got my front 5mm spacers on amazon. 5x100 54.1 center bore for ct-200. Cheap. Set of 4.

    Does anyone know if 4mm spacers will clear the calipers and whatever else they need to clear?

    Jay, do you have FR-S wheels? I'm trying to determine if the 3mm spacers will work. I'm starting to get nervous after spending all of this money, my fear is that the shop will tell me no go.

    I found a place on the web that I believe will suit my spacer needs. It's Wheel Adapters, Wheel Spacers, Hub Rings, and much more! | Motorsport Tech . There is a link on the page to enter the exact dimensions we need to step up to the 56.1 mm wheels. They look pretty high quality. A set of four costs $145. More expensive than some but they are more custom because of the step up to the bigger hub. I plan on calling Monday, if their open, or Tuesday to confirm the details. I'll keep you posted.

    Yeah, thanks for doing the research on this set up !!
    I'm waiting before I purchase the set of FR-S wheels I found. I still don't understand the sizing issues.

    The FR-S wheels have a 56.1 center bore, correct? Joey185 says he bought 5mm spacers with 54.1 center bore.
    Is the hub on the prius 54.1? ( I could answer this myself with a little work (n) )
    Adapter rings and spacers would then be required.
    But then the wheel is not engaging the center ring of the hub by 5mm. And the studs/lug nuts are now getting 5mm less engagement.
    Are new lug nuts are needed? We need to make sure we are getting proper thread engagement.
    If we do have to go with + 5-7mm spacers , I'm pretty sure an enthusiast would press out the stock lug nut studs and install longer ones.

    And one last note: unless you have fresh brake pads the floating calipers are more inboard than with new pads.
    ( You could buy a new set of pads, install them, keep everything clean, make final clearance measurements and
    return them with a sheepish excuse...:whistle: ) {The floating pins on these cars need servicing more often than at pad changes anyway because the pads last so long !!}

    Dang, is there a list of wheels that are an exact fit like the stock Level V and TRD 17" wheels ?
    If we had the exact tech specs on the these two wheels, we would know what to shop for...

    Thanks Fire, ask about making them 5mm taller than stock.

    Guys, now I'm REALLY CONFUSED! I just looked up the 17" OEM wheels on a five and they have a 50 offset. Then I looked up the Prius Plus OEM wheels and they are a 43. With this being the case, why wouldn't the 48mm offset not work without spacers? The FR-S wheels fall in between the 2 of these OEM wheels that supposedly fit without any modifications. Boy... my head is spinning!

    Thanks for tracking down those numbers. I don't get it either.
    It could be these dimensions are hub surface to rim center line, but clearance at the spokes to caliper area is another spec. I think that's what Fire ran into....
    But as you move the wheel out from the hub with spacers you eventually run into the wheel well, literally....
    And the center bore/ lug nut engagement has to be accounted for.

    I'm just hoping Fire comes up with some answers,,, before I buy anything.

    I'm going to go with 225/45/17 Michelin MXM4 tires on Drag DR-34 17x7.5 wheels. The seller of the FR-S wheels is a stand up guy, allowed me to cancel shipment and refund my money. :)

    Thank you all for your assistance on this one. I decided that I would rather take a for sure fit and potentially forgo any complications!

    Nice wheels, except for the extra hole pattern, that always bugs me...
    I went to Tirerack.com they claim every wheel they list for a 2010 Prius V (17" wheels) has a 'fit warranty'.

    Let us know how they fit, especially going up one tire size.
