Here are the results from my way home from work. Average 55-60 mph.
I have driven about 275 miles and I actually have 4 bars left on my gas tank indicator.

if i can control my speed until the tank empties out, i think I'm on track for a 500 mile tank.:)

So 3 bars left and I am just over 300 miles on the same tank. Here are today's morning commute results.

Here's my commute home. I am almost at 370 miles and at 3 bars on the gas meter.

My freeway average was more at 60-65 mph. Safer at this speed on a fast freeway.(y)

Good stuff man!! I filled up the other day with the refill me now light flashing and didn't even break 400! I have not broken 500 since my first tank, and that was 30+ miles with the light flashing (was a lot warmer 4 month ago when I bought my car).

    But,

I had my best commute in to work today mpg wise. I took a different route which had more traffic and took me through the jammed suburbs and then through the city as opposed to half highway, half city. It's def. a pain in the nice person going this way so I'm not going to make a habit of it unless I have a reason to go that way, but anyways I managed 60.3 mpg for that trip. No heater use as it was nice and warm today in the mid 30's. :)

60.3 Mpg? Wow. Your top speed average couldn't have been more than 45mph.

    What was your average speed?

Not sure brother, it was quite a bit stop n go with some natural pulse and gliding and I had a few longer down hills where I flicked her into neutral. Plus the car was warmed up from running errands earlier, plus no heater... Honestly I wasn't really even trying for best mpg as I was a little late for work but couldn't have sped even if I wanted to as too much traffic. Lol. Works for me.

I was gonna snap a pic of the display but had to run into work.

Top speed and avg speed had to have been real low though as I never got on a highway, along with the downhill sections, etc.

It's funny because that route shaves about 3-4 miles off my commute compared to my normal highway route but it takes just as long if not longer due to all the traffic lights (especially poorly timed one in the middle of the night)....

So I normally opt for the more relaxing highway route and stick cc on along with Sirius...

I'm sure my tank indicator will show 0 miles when i get home tonight.:)

The prius tank can hold 11.9 gallons of gas. When the tank indicator hits 0 miles to empty, fillup is usually 9+ gallons. Technically I will still have at least 2-1/2 gallons left, which will get me my 500+ miles.(y)

If I were to run my tank down completely, I should technically be able to get 600 miles. I won't be doing that, don't want to ruin the pump.:D

I have the habit of filling up at this Chevron by my place, hence filling up just under 500 miles. I could wait and fillup by my work. :D

So my final tank before fillup is 456 miles. I had 10 miles left before fillup.

    Here are the results.
    20150219_192633.jpg 20150219_192645.jpg 20150219_192658.jpg 20150219_192711.jpg 20150219_192726.jpg
So my fillup at the tank was 9.03 gallons. Actual MPG is 50.6 Mpg.

    easily a 500+ mile tank awesome.(y)

Well I had a rare opportunity this morning. I was able to drive to work on a full tank of gas and straight coasting with no traffic on the freeway, averaging 60-65 mph.

Took advantage of the warm weather and light traffic on a fairly flat freeway.

You can hit 500 miles as the reserve is 2 gallons.. at 456 miles, all you needed was less than a gallon. With our 17's, it's harder to be a hard core hypermiler but I've hit 500 fairly easily before. I agree it's tough on 280 though with average speed being around 80! Brave soul you are!

About the reserve, once the light starts blinking, you have a full 2 gallons. I figured this out by calculating fill up back to full.

So here are the results of my last tank.
    20150226_152304.jpg 20150226_152316.jpg 20150226_152326.jpg 20150226_152342.jpg 20150226_152408.jpg 20150226_152721.jpg
As you can see from the images, I filled up a little sooner. As I was taking these pictures, the empty tank alarm went off. From the fillup image, you can see that it took 9 gallons. So with an 11.9 gallon tank, you still have over 2 gallons left in your tank.(y)
