Haha. I do miss having my POS car. Drive it like I stole it and it was so banged up I'm sure it looked like I didn't have insurance, even though I've been paying for my own car insurance since I was 16 and have yet to go without! We have discussed getting something bigger because soon we will be having kids.

Maybe drive a beater daily and save your new car for weekends and other special occasions :)

I forgot the original deal where you at the mall or shopping or rush hour to from work or sumthin else?

Go drive a Sienna. You may be amazed. I drove a few of them roughly 10k miles last summer and would trade my SUV in on one in a heartbeat. My wife says I gotta wait, like I waited 3 years to get my Prius, so the clock is a tickin...

That would be good except we bought the Prius for it's gas saving ways. We commute to work and each way is anywhere from 45 minutes to 90 minutes (depending on how many idiots are on the road and cause a backup.) We now save about $200 on gas each month.

We were on our way home from work, just stopped at a traffic light, about a dozen cars in front of us. She was 16 and texting. I can't believe they let us drive that young now that I'm all old and stuff.

I am not a mini-van kind of person. 4runner, Highlander, even the Honda Pilot is nice, but...I just don't think I could get myself to buy mini-van. I've driven them before and the features and such are quite nice. Plus you can bring everything you want for travel because of all the room!

I can consistently drive the Sienna at 27 mpg on the Interstates running around 70 mph and 24 mpg in town stop & go. Not bad. Better than my SUV. I could put a set of Energy Saver A/S tires on a Sienna and bump that up about 4 mpg's. I did that with my SUV to get it out of the 16-19 mpg rut that it got with all season tires. Now it runs 20 sumthin mpg's depending on in town or out on the Interstate. There is supposed to be a Sienna Hybrid coming out which would be about the time I will be lookin to order one :)

I look at a Sienna sitting beside a SUV and imagine the SUV having sliding side doors or the Sienna having regular open up rear doors. They kind'a look similar to me now :)

Hope that it is over quickly - sounds frustrating to have to deal with a car that is not "right." Best wishes....

Is a Prius good for new borns? I would be kind of afraid of the kiddo pees in the diaper and it leaks into the battery compartment. Not being married this is not a concern for me but kids might happen during the lifetime of this vehicle.

None of my friends with kids have nice things. They always get soiled or broken. Cars included.

Safety ratings are wicked good, so for a crash I would say yes. I actually got to see the hybrid battery in the center of the car after my accident. It was pretty neat actually. I think it would be safe. Besides when you have kids and leather interior aren't you meant to put down a blanket between their seat and the leather? Don't want to leave those nasty imprints or even worse, smashed food!

You know the 2012 Camry was my rental after I was in an accident and I am a big Toyota fan, but gosh did I not like it. When the wind was blowing it was like I was being thrown all over the road, even with small gusts. Not my favorite.

If you don't mind my asking, I would also like to know when and the nature of the accident? It looks like a pretty penny would have been spent to fix it, I'm guessing in the 15k range. I'm having trouble with the at fault parties insurance regarding diminished value, assuming the accident wasn't your fault I would like to know how this panned out for you, or is panning out. Hope you're well and no one was injured.

This accident happened Sept 7th. I got my car back Oct 13th. The at fault party merged into my lane & clipped the right front fender. He was in a lifted Tacoma, when he made contact with my front end, he started to roll over. At the same time the force of the impact pushed me into the lane next to me which had stopped, so I rear ended a SUV. As the pickup rolled & slid across the freeway, he got hit from another car

The SUV took off (prop no ins)

I went through my ins (State Farm) to get my Prii fixed at a shop in Beverly Hill called Beverly Hill Auto Body Group. They did awesome work as always.

The CHP report states that the driver of the pickup is at fault for an unsafe lane change but his ins is saying that he's not so its going through arbitration. Once they come out with who is at fault, I'm going after my deductible & DV.

The cost of the repairs were close to $14,000. They needed to replace the driver inner fender, radiator core support, bumper mounts, bumper impact support, bumper absorber, bumper cover, bother fenders, hood & hood mounts, both headlights, both fog lights & lower grill, engine cover, front bumper body kit, windshield & cowl cover. All parts were OEM expect for the windshield which I'm waiting on a response from my adjuster on why it's not OEM.

While it was in the shop, I had them de-badge the fenders & rear hatch & also had them paint the riff in gloss black

Rear hatch panel removed to get the holes filled

I suppose that's a good time to get those extra things done that you want, something "good" comes out of it. State Farm seems big on fixing cars for a very high price despite their value, were you wanting them to fix it? I was gunning for a total. You'll have to let us know how that turns and me vise versa. What insurance does the at fault party have? I'm waiting to hear what State Farm offers me for my DV.

I was hoping for a total loss but there wasn't enough damage to go that route.

The at fault party has Allstate Insurance.
The 3rd party has Mercury Insurance

It's hard to put the pressure on them to do that. Even though over 13.5 k was spent in repairs and over 1.3k was spent on my rental I was unable to go that route as well. Even with them knowing they would need to pay me for DV. Have you contacted any DV experts to get a free estimate on what your DV amount is?
