The iPod is a special case, they've modified the car for it. Most other MP3 players, smart phones, etc don't have that advantage.

With regard to music, I also be determined by smart playlists, super star ratings (that I've ascribed to songs), last played date in order to a lesser extend, playlists. Once more, many of these are synced between the actual iDevices and iTunes.I also plug my ipod to the Aux input of the car dvd monitor to listen to music.

Hmmm... I haven't noticed an issue with the USB music stick, but then again, I am only carrying around, at most, 4 to 7 gigs worth of music.

While I have a Droid Bionic phone, not an iPhone or iPod/iPad... I found the BT audio to be a bad idea as my Droid's music gets interrupted when the notification sounds kick off for mail. I noticed this when I was driving with the said audio going and suddenly it paused. I then realized it seemed to coincide with the notification sounds coming from my Droid Device while I was driving. Is it the same for the iPhone when you get mail or text messages?

I have done that, moving music library to memory stick, plays fine, all info appears on the display, can scroll thru, etc. just like a CD, only better. And, you get the cool flashing blue light while it's plugged in!

Just be sure not to leave your ipod in your car... the heat will eventually make your battery start to die. I really enjoy the cd changer in my car. I've loaded them up with mp3s and do not notice any sound quality issues. And I enjoy having the track artist/titles displayed.
