Hmm, I was quoted $230 for just the hood and whatever the bare minimum was (12"?). I would want just the hood and maybe the bumper (I know, it won't rust but it looks horrible right now).

There's also another set of "lines" underneath the handle too for winter use (e.g. gloves or if the top is covered in ice). You can "squeeze" the handle too for better results if swiping/touching the top isn't reliable enough to lock.

I find 2 bars is a good distance. 1 is too short and 3 is too long (unless you're travelling at city speeds, then 3 is reasonable. The bars are scaled depending on speed).

My 2012 is my third Prius (still driving the 2007 as well). While I always read the Manuals and highlight many instructions, I make my own INDEX on the back blank pages with reference to frequently wanted features such as resetting the "Maintenance Needed" warning, "Reset Automatic Windows", "Jump 12v Battery", etc.

Funny, I was driving the FJ most of the winter up to now. Bruiser is now in for surgery after being rear-ended by an 18 wheeler (should get him back today). Picked up a new broom for snow removal at home and put it in via the hatch. Closed the hatch and forgot how to lock the doors, so I had to walk -ALL- the way to the front door to lock the car. ;) After a while I remembered the little button beside the hatch open one. With gloves on the remote is a non-starter.
Gave Pearl S a bath and put her back in the garage in anticipation of getting the FJ back! (come-on phone, ring!)

If when you return to your locked Prius - you'll be amazed that when you stick your hand in the door handle - it knows to unlock the doors - technology rocks!

If you want all your doors to open when you place your hand on the driver's side, instead of just your driver's door, do the following:

Using your key FOB press and hold (for at least 5 secs) the unlock button, then press and hold the unlock button simultaneously until your hear two (2) beeps - done!

My thoughts exactly - when I took delivery of my plug-in, I knew more about the car than the dealer did. It was unbelievable how untrained some of these guys are. Even after buying the car, when going in for service, or just talking to other sales guys, all of them seem almost clueless on how the car works, or even how the features work. When I rented a Prius, the rental guys went over the car (even though I didn't need it...) - seems they have more info than the dealer guys :p

Recently, I went and test drove cars at Honda over the weekend and there are guys that are already fully trained on the Accord Plug-In, which hasn't even seen its first sale... what gives Toyota?

The Honda guys need to know this to sell their cars. Apparently the Prius sells itself.
