2012 Camry Hybrid Offset Steering Wheel Oddity

    I noticed this same thing on my 13 Sienna. The wheel is a good two inches to the right of center seat. It is actually an annoyance because I tend to balance my elbow on the windowsill and with my hand on the wheel the angle is not quite perfect as it is stretched out. Not enough to bother me that much but still an interesting to me observation.

    perhaps it makes the car easier to drive.

    Is anyone able to chime in on if any displacement is there on the right hand drive models? I wonder if what is being reported is an artifact from designing RHD then converting that to LHD.

    It would have to looked at on a per model basis. I once read that the Ford Falcon couldn't be made LHD because of it's design. So it depends on how much consideration is given to adapting for the different handedness during the design process. Supposedly the center gauge clusters on some cars, was to make it easier and cheaper.

    I would think Toyota would have had a LHD Camry in mind from the beginning considering the market for it here though, but something saw overlooked could have large consequences.

    is the camry steering wheel offset the same as hycam?
