Unfortunately most people don't think that Toyota can build a car that is other than perfect. We have 1 good and 1 not so good. However both suffer from having crap brakes. Again, most people don't "feel" it. We can reproduce the issue daily.

Even when it was warm, mine still had rattles. Ugh. My Trans Am which I just put back on the road, and is almost 11 years old is quieter rattle wise.

I love our Prii's but I question the breaks and MY rattles I will not get another one when my lease is up. What my wife gets is up to her.

I'm looking at a Leaf or a Volt as I drive less than 15 miles a day normally.

MyG3 2010 rattles terribly when the temperature is below 45 degrees or so. It's been to the dealer three times and I'll cointinue to take it to the dealer for additional insulation. The center consol may help transmit vibration. By looking at the car, one would believe it's carefully assembled---but the eco plastic squeaks and rattles. I may have to learn to live with it.

My 2010 is driven daily in the Top of WORST ROAD rated STATES IN THE NATION ! has 7k miles since August , have never heard even a hint of a rattle , IMO - most of the complaints= drivers fault, with a few instances real rattles., easily fixed. You would have to drive in Rhode Island to believe the condition of its Roads. Be thankful you don't live here

Just for kicks--explain to me how the interior noises in my Prius are my fault.

The only thing I'm going to offer, since I do not own a Prius, is that I do own a Honda Fit. Which is Honda's entry level hatchback. Trust me it has plenty of plastic in the interior, and is lightweight.

    No rattles.

So the proclamation that the rattles are just part of owning a lightweight car, hatchback or enviromentally concious car? Unfounded.

"If" and I leave if up to current owners...but "If" the 3rd Generation Prius has a tendency to abnormal amounts of interior rattles then IMO it doesn't HAVE to be that way, and shouldn't- and Toyota should work on improving it.

when I said drivers fault , meant to say IMO its items in the car that are rattling , not the car itself. If I am wrong , & most of the rattles in all these complaints are solely coming from the car , I stand corrected , & Toyota should remedy the problem. But I stand firm that It should have happened to me , with my harsh driving conditions.

I have a 2011 Prius I and it is extremely quiet, no rattles and no road noise.

I do wonder why there are very very few 2011 boards??

How long have you owned your Prius? I have a friend whose 2010 was absolutely quiet for 8 months but then it developed noises. You are a lucky one, but one day you'll notice something ticking or creaking. You'll turn off your radio and heater in amazement and then subsequently, remove all your personal items from each compartment. When you still hear the ticks or creaks, join the rattle club.

Mine has rattles, a lot more than my 07. And it seems to ride stiffer than my old Touring. My 10 looks a lot better, but it sure isn't build better.

2011 here very solid so far. No rattles or creaks whatsoever. Slight muddy sound and resonance when I crank up the sound coming from front door JBL woofers.

At some point I will Dynomat to better deaden the door speaker enclosures.

Dynamat won't help the JBL system .... the only thing that will is a JBL-ectomy ... :D

Worst supposed 'high-end' factory installed system I've ever heard.

Actually, to me the system sounds really good. I tend to push the lows sometimes like when im on the way to the gym and need to feel the music:D. Also, its nothing pulling back on the low end wouldn't solve.

I would disagree with the statement that the JBL Sound System is the worst factory system ever. I actually think it sounds GREAT for a sub 30k vehicle. I have had several cars over the years and the JBL system in the Prius is better than ANY of the other vehicles I have owned. The sound system on the 3rd gen Prius is a significant improvement over my 07 that I traded. My 10 prius has had issues with overall build quality but I know others on here that have not. I have come to learn that these vehicles are made in 3 plants and it seems that Toyota has had some QC issues in at least 1 of them. All manufacturers have had issues with a vehicle from time to time. What matters in the end is how they address the problems. If your vehicle is not built right or functioning properly, take it to Toyota and make them fix it. nuff said

If you are hearing a ticking noise from the right hand side of the vehicle (passenger) it is likely the glass window in front of the door. Mine was improperly installed at the factory and required replacement for resolution.

For a quick fix on the glovebox rattle, stick a thin shirt between the door where it latches, it will help stop the latches from rattling.

Very quiet here too. Make sure it's nothing you put in the car. I had a noise once and it was the electronic toll pass on my windshield tapping the glass.

I'd hate to hear the other ones you've owned if the JBL system is the best so far ..... :D

"prius" a true work of build quality crap!!

i really want to enjoy my new car, but damn i have never been in a vehicle that has more rattles and creeks then this one..EVER.... the colder it is the more the noises come alive. how is it that i can get in any other vehicle new or old with many miles and have it be more solid then this "brand new" car. i have never had to buy felt padding, silicone spray, mouse pad for center bridge console and other concoctions to try and reduce the obtrusive noises. a brand new car with 500 miles on it and it sounds like it was assembled in some third world country. i was excited to see the letter J in the vin, but boy was i wrong. this is what i get to have a vehicle that gets exceptional gas mileage. no thx, i will look elsewhere Toyota on my next vehicle. keep up the subpar work, and my vehicle is an my11 assembled in 01/11.

I mean, I am genuinely sorry you don't like your car, but if rattling plastic is the worst thing going down in your life right now, sounds like you've got it made.
