Are the downloads just electronic versions of the printed manual? Mainly, I just wanted to be sure that I'd be getting the same thing as what would be in the book (diagrams and all).

Yes, they are the same. Without the paper, of course. ;)

Has anyone figured out how to download the 2010 manuals from TIS? I registered, but it looks like the repair manual is in some sort of HTML format, not PDF or SVG.

    Help with download please!

Could someone please tell me how to download the Toyota 2010 Prius Repair Manual from the TIS website? I have paid my money, I am logged on to the website, I have Java and the Adobe SVG viewer installed in IE. When I try to save the sections or just individual pages it just seems to save a blank page. I can read the pages fine from the website but nothing seems to download.

I also tried using Firefox in both Windows and Kubuntu 8.04 Linux and could get nothing that way either.

    Re: Help with download please!

Yes I did read your post recommending the Print2PDF 8.0. Have you actually used it to download the 2010 Prius Repair Manual from https://techinfo.toyota.com/techInfoPortal/? I ask because I'm a little reluctant to spend $99 for Print2PDF if it might not work on these documents. It's not that I don't believe you, I just wonder if this document is different than the ones you have gotten?

I can't figure a way to even download one page at a time, I can't even print to a file. They are using some kind of HTML with privacy that just won't let you take anything off the web site at all. When I try to save it to a folder it just saves a link to the web page and it must go to the site and get the page everytime you call it up. So when my subscription runs out in 2 days I won't be able to do that anymore.

    Thank you for your patience.

I paid my $15 and registered for 2 days at TIS, but trying to download some of the files (all apparently in PDF format) is next to impossible. I can print these files out, but trying to save a copy on my hard drive is a mystery. There is no "FILE" command to do that.

    What's the secret? Thanks.

Sucks that it requires IE. Now I have to wait and download everything while I'm at work :/

I have a program called PDF master which sets up a virtual printer. You use the print command to send to the virtual printer and it creates a PDF file. You can download it from CNET, you get a free trial, then you have to pay. CNET has some totally free PDF conversion programs but I haven't tried them.

There is also a free program called CUTE PDF.

I do wish that the entire manual was one huge PDF. It would make all of our lives easier

Amen to that. I'd even pay a reasonable amount for such a file (from Toyota, not some warez site).

I spent several LONG nights downloading the entire Repair Manual, EWD's (wiring diagrams), location drawings, and anything else I thought might be useful. >2700 files in all.

The hardest part was keeping it organized and named properly so I could find it later. It was time consuming and somewhat painful. ALMOST worth the $400 for printed manuals.

I used "CutePDF" (google it) which basically acts as a printer (driver) and allows you to save the pdf file to wherever you want. The good things about CutePDF are that it is free, it doesn't use a secondary, slow dialog box (unlike some), no ads (unlike some), and remembers where you last saved. It's also quick, which is important when you're writing >2700 files. ;)

Thanks for your comments. I finally got going by using a program called Print2PDF (similar to the program you used), which allows a PDF file to be saved to your hard drive. However, after downloading files for several hours (with no end in sight), I decided to just wait for the next Bentley manual to come out.

Now I see why the service manual is so expensive.

By the way, I signed up for 2 days on TIS. I tried logging on after that period was over just to see if I could. It recognized my user ID but rejected my password. I guess that's the way they keep customers out of TIS when their subscriptions have expired.

I've held off on downloading the PDFs but I'm tried of waiting for the paper manuals. So any luck with:

    • mac OS using available browsers?
I have the windows emulator on another machine and can run MS products. But I'd prefer not to use them.

Their help page indicates that it will not work with a Mac, most likely due to plugins that are required. It also "recommends" Internet Explorer 6, and requires Java Runtime version 6, update 7, which is needed for the wiring diagram viewer. They had quite a bit of trouble with the Java plug-in back in July. I actually had to ask them to extend my subscription until they fixed the Java problem.

I found a CD on ebay purporting to be 2010 shop manual, for under $30, waiting for it to arrive (it's been 2 weeks). Still being advertised, so maybe quite a few available, although easy to copy. I'll let all know when I receive if it's the real deal.
