Can you please tell me the exact size of the 16" tires and wheels you can get for a prius. What is the Offset, etc. Thanks so much.
This is interesting. TracyJ, do you mean to say you can still do a 17" wheels/tires upgrade before your car is delivered for $1,699.00? What happens to the OEM 15" wheels/tires? Who or what is SET? TIA for clarifying.
That's a bargain compared to what others were paying (through the nose). Edit: Nevermind, I just noticed in the other thread that the $1699 set isn't OEM 17" rims. Back to square one as the factory set costs $3,000-4000.
I think it's Southeast Toyota. GST is Gulf States Toyota. I'm in Toyota's Mid-Atlantic region, but they don't call it MAT. The U.S. is divided into different regions, each operating slightly differently.
I want some 17" stock wheels bad for my new car I will pay to swap both sets out with my brand new 15's Wheels must be almost perfect as mine are new! I will drive to you and do it where you want plus give a $100 hassle payment. Let me know if anyone is interested. I live in Hollywood, CA so it also must be reasonable for me to drive there. Andrew
The wheel I am buying is 16X7 with a 45 mm offset. However, the offset can vary a bit from that and still work. The wheel weight is 15 pounds.
I have a 10 Prius V and qualify for senior discounts at restaurants. Having said that, I do not find the ride objectionable at all. It is slightly firmer and much better handling than the 05 Pkg 6 I traded in. I drove the 05 for almost 5 years so I'm very familiar with its ride. The new one has Michelin Pilots, and maybe that is part of the ride. Perhaps your friend's car has different tires? I agree with the others here, trading in will cause a big loss. Maybe something else is at play, maybe buyers remorse?
OK -- there isn't a suspension upgrade. But to say you "only" get the 17" wheels and quicker steering is a bit of a dis-service, I'd say. I think the handling is significantly different, and I really appreciate the difference. It would be hard to go back to 15" wheels!!
What tire size are you mounting? With 16" tires you should still be able to maintain a comfortable ride compared to going 17s". You should get improved steering response and slightly better handling. Let us know how it all works out.
I am buying tires in size 205-55-16. I am buying from Tire Rack. I have bought from them in the past and I have been pleased. Will definitely post my impressions. I carefully considered going with the 17 inch option but decided based on local road conditions that 16 inch was the best overall option for the Prius.
SET is the Southeast Toyota Region and they do it at port and who knows what happens to the 15's. It does come to the dealer ready to roll.
Not everybody with some criticism about the Prius is here to test fan reactions or set this forum on fire. Come on, people just need help sometimes with some doubts about the Prius and this is the best place to find it, better than any dealership across the country.
Fact is, 5 days later and they have only made 4 posts. Perhaps not for this one, but your observation is indeed true for several posters on PC.
I haven't seen any reason not to take this poster at his word. He is concerned about his friend's predicament, and he (reasonably) thought this forum would be a good place to get input/feedback/etc. I think he made one miscalculation and one error. The miscalculation is that there would be anyone else on this forum with enough miles on a Prius V to have not only found it to be uncomfortable, but also to have developed a solution. Still -- where else was he going to go. The error? I think the thread title got a bit of a reaction. If he had said "Can 2010 Prius V Ride be Softened?", then I think the reaction may have been a bit more helpful from the outset. "Terrible ride" is akin to tossing red meat infront of us Prius lovers. I think he may have tried a few more posts if the general reaction had been more positive. Instead, we swooped in and (generally) attacked. (Note the "we" in that sentence.:wave
I traded my 2008 Lexus ES350 off on my package V. It definitely doesn't ride like my ES350 did and it's not nearly as quiet but the ride is pretty decent.
If anyone has any grips about the 2010 you have people that get offended by that. People saying they have no problems with their 2010 or their 2010 has that problem, but their other cars they owned including their Lexus use to have that problem. Like it must be the problem with the OP imagining this. Or why are you worried about a few rattles, you are getting the finest gas mileage technology. Like how dare they criticize the 2010. It's funny reading some of these posts.
