2010 Prius OEM-quality Fog Light Kit Now Available!

It wasn't directed at you, Jeff but I have a sample wiring diagram that will do what you need.
Let's just see if I can attach them to this post.

The relay and relay harness are available on Amazon or most local automotive stores.

 

The fog light switch connecter only had 3 wires coming out of it. One was for ground, one was for power, and one was the output to relay in the engine Compartment. I followed the instructions posted on this thread, as switch was identical. Black is grounded, Red is tied to the light tan wire coming off of ECU, and Grey wire goes through firewall to relay. I didnt see a 4th connection point for the illumination on switch & thought it fed directly off of the Red wire when switch was on. Am I missing something obvious?

Another oddity is that the foglights can be used all the time, even when car is shut down. Other than remembering to turn them off, this is no big deal, but it doesnt match what instructions on here said for limitations. I checked several times to make sure wire I tapped matched the one in picture. Very odd.

 

Andrew, it sounds like you have the wrong wire tapped from the ECU connector. If it is the right brown wire, it should only have power when the parking and lowbeam lights are on.

 

I've just installed my fog lights on my 2010 IV. Took me 3.5 hours to do. I spent 20 minutes trying to aim the lights and they look really nice!

 

I was having trouble with the driver side fog light. The passenger side worked fine.
When I had the bumper off I discovered this:


Hard to see but looks like it melted around the contact:


The matching terminal on the bulb was all black

Anyone know were I could get another plug like this? I'd like to fix it when I replace my bumper.

Definitely check the other connector and terminal for damage as well. Looks like some arcing occurred due to a bad connection. Probably due to being pulled during the accident.

Edit: NVM, I realize the other side of that connector is the bulb.

Look on the back of the bulb for the connector type. Probably H11.

Just had mine put in.

But I did replace the 65 watt bulbs, with LED blue bulbs.

In almost all jurisdictions, blue lights mounted to the front or rear of a vehicle is illegal.

I think flashing is the key word.
Texas code Sec. 547.305:
(a) A motor vehicle lamp or illuminating device, other than a headlamp, spotlamp, auxiliary lamp, turn signal lamp, or emergency vehicle or school bus warning lamp, that projects a beam with an intensity brighter than 300 candlepower shall be directed so that no part of the high-intensity portion of the beam strikes the roadway at a distance of more than 75 feet from the vehicle.

(b) Except as expressly authorized by law, a person may not operate or move equipment or a vehicle, other than a police vehicle, with a lamp or device that displays a red light visible from directly in front of the center of the equipment or vehicle.

(c) A person may not operate a motor vehicle equipped with a red, white, or blue beacon, flashing, or alternating light unless the equipment is:

So my 2010 prius has to move to Canada and its law requires that I should have DRLs. Has someone who has installed this lamp kit successful in making these lights into DRL's? Do the instructions included suggest the installer on how to do so?

As long as I can have them turn on when I turn the ignition and vice versa, I'll be a happy camper!

Where is the headlight limit law written? I had always thought the manufacture wiring figures you won't have high beams on in fog, so fog lights won't work on high and only work on low beam so there is no chance of running high in fog with your fog lights.

I compared the wiring diagrams for both the Southeast Toyota kit (00016-47401) and the Priuschat kit (PIPL-40C).

The Southeast Toyota kit (port install but non-OEM) has only three wires going into the fog light switch, therefore it will not light up when the parking light is on. The Priuschat kit (also sold on JuicedHybrid and other websites) has four wires going into the fog light switch, therefore it will light up when powered.

In this sense, the "OEM quality" kit is even better than the dealer's kit.

 

I had the same problem and completed my repair today, on my 2010 Gen 3 with the Prius Chat fog lights I installed a couple of years ago.

So I now have very bright LED fog lights, with Dielectric Connector Grease to prevent the shorting when the connectors are wet. I put the old and new connectors side-by-side, in the same orientation, so I would know how to connect the wires for the new connector. I cut off the old connector and used two crimping connectors to connect the new connector to the Prius Chat wiring harness. I put a dab of Dielectric Connector Grease in each of the two female portions of the connector. I pushed the LED bulb onto the connector and rotated the bulb into the rear of the fog light housing. I then repeated the same steps for the other fog light.

 

You replaced halogen H11 bulbs of approximately 1350 lumens each with an LED "bulb" with 700 lumen output. How do you like it?

 

Oh... you got me! In the absence of the lumens information, I was snookered by the "super bright" marketing talk. The good part of my repair is that I have new connectors with dielectric grease, to prevent more burning and destruction of the connectors when they are wet. The potentially bad part of my repair is that I have reduced the amount of illumination coming from the fog lights. The repair was just done, so I haven't driven at night with the fog lights, to know if I like the LED bulbs. I still have the H11 halogen bulbs, so they are available if I don't like the LED bulbs. Thanks for your enlightening (pun intended) lumens information.

All the LEDS point forward for better light output. The lamps are plug and play.

The 50w mentioned in your item description is an "equivalent" value, like saying this 13w compact fluorescent bulb is equivalent to a 60w incandescent bulb.

 

There isn't any information about brightness. Is your information from your experience?
