I always look for the "inside joke" in things. This is because when I develop training, I almost always find a way to sneak something in. So when I watched the podcast on adjusting the brightness, I GoogleMapped the location. I have to wonder if there's a reason the map is set to just South of Dodger Stadium.
I have some questions about these videos, and some suggestions for a more accessible presentation method as you produce more of them. You say you're under various constraints but hopefully there are some minimal things to help bring it to more people. . Are you developing these in a Mac environment? The vids definitely have that "reflective dock" look about them here and there. What do you use to do all the animations? [No, I'm not a video jock by any stretch, just curious.] . You've seen that the "iTunes" thing didn't really work out so well, but it's another hint that you might be in the "mac universe" that might have also given you a way to push the videos to the net. But do you have direct access to the site where the actual video files are hosted? What I'm thinking is that if you could upload a simple HTML wrapper around the files to the same area, such as Code: <a href="Adjusting%20the%20Tone_2-H.264%20for%20iPod%20Video%20640x480.m4v"> Adjusting the Tone for iPod Video </a><p> ... etc ... with a cute image or two, they would be readily available to anyone with any sort of browser and then you could just point people toward that. You would have to upload a fresh version of the list as you put up more videos, but that shouldn't be difficult. . I would also try to avoid using spaces in the filenames. I know -- the Mac environment really encourages that, but as you've seen it causes confusion in some of the other platforms. I always swap them for underscores (_) or dashes when I need to do sucn things. . In fact I could probably generate that index for you, as could many other web-savvy folks hereabouts. It's just a minor mod to the RSS file that was already posted. If you want any help on making this all easier, PM me some contact info. I want to help you guys improve and try to remove some of the frustration on both sides. . Sorry about all the disparagement, from myself and others. A lot of it got deleted from this thread, in fact. It's easy to get annoyed when web content doesn't work -- trust me, I deal with this all the time, and usually try to get it repaired at the design level. Let me only be the two-thousand-and-thirty-fifth person to say that Toyota has done a wonderful job on the whole Prius line and the thinking around it -- in fact as you may have noticed I am one of your lowest-paid salesmen when I go out to energy and car shows and hand out my flyers and explain the drivetrain all day in the hot sun. But you must admit that to some extent, Toyota *is* a huge monolithic company behind a badge, and the effects from that are well-known throughout many forum postings. Hopefully you can help push some of that upstairs at the same time. [We'd *love* to see a US-model Estima or similar, for example...] . It's also great that you are participating in the forums, and volunteering to be the "face of Toyota" over here. That comes with a certain level of responsibility either real or perceived and you're probably going to get a lot of inquiries/comments that are outside your deparment's purview. Just goes with the territory, I suppose. Hopefully you can reliably refer some of that back *to* Priuschat for getting questions fielded. . _H* [only semi-professional web guy]
