    Congratulations!

I know there is blue model III in WA state with the solar roof package which includes the Nav Package. Our San Diego Dealer said they were available north of Bakersfield CA.

Entering in various zip codes on the "Build your Prius" web site is the best idea unless you can find a knowledgeable dealer who will tell you. (Try South of NY). They aren't eager to tell you where else you can buy one!

I asked my dealer why they would offer the solar roof any where but not Southern CA!!!

He said their research indicated that model III customers would not be willing to pay the $3,600 for the solar package but model IV customers would! (Well see if orders and sales bear that out?!?)

I had been called Saturday about mine coming in and got all excited and called them today. However, they had ordered it with the solar and moon roof package, which I didn't want because I was going to be adding solar as part of the conversion to a PHEV.

So if someone wants a black model IV with the navigation package AND a moon roof w/ solar, it is at Jay Wolfe Toyota in Kansas City! :(

I totally feel your pain. I live in San Diego and have heard nothing but bad things about the dealers. I am waiting until late September to get a prius just for that reason. Please let me know if you find a decent dealer.

Is it possible for dealers to trade with nearby regions that do have this model?

The 2 I spoke to said they are not interested in inter-region trades and do not think any others are willing to give up any of their Prius inventory!

I'm very confused about the XM Radio. We're going to get a 2010 Prius with the Solar Package, which means trims III or IV. Is the XM Radio receiver installed in those packages as part of the base price? Is it extra or what? The literature seems to indicate that it is included but the dealers don't share that idea.

    Thanks in advance.

It's already installed on III IV and V.
You get 3 months free service.

I was very surprised to find that I was getting satellite radio on my new GIII. Does the dealer tell XM that the car is sold and to turn on the free trial? If not, then if the car sits on the lot for 3 months does the free trial expire? Just curious.

The XM is good to go from the factory (or port, I don't know which). The dealer sends a notification to XM so that an end-date is placed on your XM service. You are likely to hear from XM a couple of times prior to the end of your 90 days.

Do current XM subscribers also have that 3-month free trial? I wonder if when my dealer sends the notification to XM, they will start billing me instantly because I already have a XM account... does that make sense?

so how do i turn it on? was looking for it the other day. now maybe its on and i dont know it.

once when i choose a route, it advised me of three options, quick, shortest and something else. it has only done this once and on retrospect, i believe it was because of traffic since we did hit some congestion and were warned of it like 10 minutes before we hit it.

My local dealer has a 2010 II with Bluetooth. From what the official site says, it seems that many of the Bluetooth features require the DVD navigator. How useful is bluetooth option w/o DVD navigator?
    thanks

It's use is limited to hands-free phone conversations with compatible cell phones, like the iPhone. It's integrated with the JBL sound system, meaning that the sound lower its volume automatically upon receiving a phone call.

    Re: bluetooth w/o nav
Will a cellphone be able to "connect to the car" when it is in the car and turned on w/o nav? I imagine if it can connect then you can answer calls using the steering wheel? From what you say, you will have to use the phone to dial calls...no downloading of phone books, or MFD speed dialing, etc. Have I got it right?

    thanks again

My San Diego Dealer just called to say that they closed their rental car area so they have TWO model IIIs with the sunroof package they need to sell!

White & silver, no blue but I think I have to go 4 it since they don't sell model IIIs with the sunroof in Southern CA!!!

Indeed, I think this resumes the problem.

The problem does not lie in the Prius nav system, it lies in the DVD map source data.
Maybe Toyota should change map vendor for the USA... :(

I would hope XM doesn't operate that way, but I know nothing about satellite radio. It seems to me that if you have two devices you'd have two separate charges. If that is the case, then on the new one they'd recognize the three free months.

If, instead, you just pay one fee, regardless of how many devices you, personally, own, then what does it really matter? The second one simply would stay free, right? (Actually, that sounds too good to be true!)

Every time you set a destination, the Nav system will show you those same three options (even if they all turn out to be the same exact route!). The traffic part already is "On" as a default. What is "Off" as a default is the automatic re-routing of your guidance based on the updated traffic information.

To choose automatic re-routing based on traffic alerts, you need to go to the setup for Nav and scroll through the options.
