Oops, thanks for putting me right on that. Oops!
I just like writing oops, it is the name of my land-yacht and is written on the underside in case I turned it over.

Tis my belief the plasma cluster thingo (sorry, technical term) charge dust particles in the air as they pass over metal plates causing the dust particles to stick together making them too heavy to float on the air there fore they fall out of suspension onto the floor or other surfaces where if they are still charged they stick. If any clusters of dust particles are drawn back into the ventilation system they are trapped by the pollen filter.

However this is what sharp have to say and it's nothing like I just wrote, but I'll leave what I wrote so you can see how dumb I am.

I can't believe I did not pay attention to it!! In april 2 of this year I recieved an e-mail from a family member about the 2010 Prius. It contain a link to a story that Univision.com published about the new Prius. Turns out that someone gave univsion the actual pricing for the new Prius(including the packages) and it was released in April 2. If you read the article, you will find the acurate prices for the car and packages on page three. This is a spanish website and it clearly states the prices are not final. However, as you could see they are exactly what Toyota announced on Tuesday. I guess if I had paid attention, I could have provided them to all of you over twenty days in advance!!! LOL

Mike, thanks for your reply. Quick question (for anyone)....do we know what we can control from the Navigation display outside of picking your CD and AM/FM presets? For example, if I use an iPod interface, will I be able to scroll through the playlists and pick from that screen like I could in a 2nd Gen Prius? I'm trying to decide if it's even worth it since I don't use navigation. I really only want it as a control center (even if it's just for multimedia purposes, and not climate control).

    Thoughts?

If this has already been published, please forgive me. But, I saw the initial production percentages today. According to the list a Toyota dealer showed me, the first run will consist of between 40% and 50% Prius II, 20-30% Prius III, with the remainder the Prius IV and V. The Prius V was around 2-3%. Unknown how the options will be split up.
What is also unclear is how long this will last -- how long is "initial."
Appears that Toyota is taking the economy seriously and planning on seeding the market overwhelmingly with the most affordable models.

good to know because my dealer just told me. Out of curiosity I wonder if different states get different allotments of the packages? Anyone know?

Kudos to Toyota making the Touch Tracer, Smart Key System (Driver door only) with Push Start button, Alloy wheels, EV and Power buttons, STAR safety and 7 air bags (including knee) as standard features in the low $22k Prius II.

These are the most useful, fun and safety features that the Insight buyers will truly miss, trying to save $1,000.

Generally speaking, the types and amounts are dictated by the types and amounts of previous models. A region that very rarely sold NW (#6) pkg cars will not be getting as many V's in the first allocation. All this can be thrown out the window at any time by Toyota of course. They can just build the easiest models (less equipped ones) and push them to jump start the numbers. It would make sense to produce the cheaper ones first to get them out on the road to a higher percentage of people. This is the complete opposite of what they did with the Venza though. They built all top end models first.

HUD generally refers to a Head Up Display, that is projected on the windshield, which is not available in US--not sure if it's available in ROW.

My experience with many different car manufacturers is they build the high end versions/packages first (sometimes only release a high end version for the first year) since they assume the early adopters will spring for it, and then later release less-equipped packages and/or models.

The 2010 Prius I not being released until later this year is one example, and from your comment the Venza is another.

Porsche always does this--for example with the upcoming Panamera, they have Panamera S, 4S, and Turbo models available, and will release a "base" Panamera some time in the future.

This will vary from allocation to allocation. One reason is that these orders had to be given to the factory and then upstream to the component suppliers several months ago, possibly as early as Dec/Jan. Thus there was only informed guesses about what should be shipped.

Typically as several others have noted the initial shipments normally are the more loaded up models. All vehicle makers do this.

But we are in a different economic environment today. As a result I think that the bulk of the shipments will be the least costly models. It would be bad PR and very bad juju if the new wonderful 2010s arrived and they all sat...because the prices were too high in relation to what the buying public expected.

In CAT the initial distribution is 60% Prius II and III with 40% being Prius IV and V.

It's not available in the US but HUD is the projected stuff on the windshield that'll display speedo and audio (e.g. if you were changing tracks or volume) as well as navigation directions (direction arrow and dist. to next turn)

do not know but TMS did make a decision not to. Not many cars here have HUD. A few GM cars did.

And with the highlander, they built them all except the 4 cyl 2wd models originally. I think the first one I saw was a bsae model.

I'll keep checking to see what is coming out first.

I am in complete agreement with you. I was excited to see the availability of new features and technology on the 2010 Prius, especially the moonroof and supposedly higher gas mileage... but I want to keep the features I already have, especially the backup camera and SKS, without having to buy a whole bunch of stuff I don't want such as the nav system (I already have a Garmin Nuvi and am quite happy with that, thank you very much). So now I'm not so excited anymore because I figure I'm going to have to spend a lot more than I had planned on if I really want to upgrade to the new Prius.

Well in Canada, we have 3-dr SKS and backup camera on all models except the base so only need to buy the JBL audio system (among other small items).

I'm waffling too about the packages.
How do you like the priority pricing?????? deal or no deal????
will the dealer try to stick us on the trade in value (more than usual?)
