2010 Prius Models and Option Packages

Could you please post a link about the Prius Priority Program? The 2010 Prius sounds really cool -- I want this to be my first hybrid.

The Prius Priority program was a chance for long time Prius Owners/ Supporters to pre-order the 2010 before the general public. It was by invitation only.

 

Welcome to the forum RR, the invitation was a surprise to everyone who was picked... it was totally about Toyota and the "powers that be" that brought it all to being.... who knows if and when it will happen again.
No one knows pricing as of yet either.

But don't worry,
But I'm expecting the prius to be competitively priced in the retail market. Although your getting quite a different animal from previous versions "for the better", there will be much more of them available on the market than earlier versions were when they sold, and in light of present economic conditions, gas prices being modest compared to then, and competition more abundant, the price should be very fair.

 

The program was only open to US and Canadian residents although Toyota Sales USA did put in a good word for those of us outside North America with our local Toyota Sales people. I'm registered on a priority program here but still waiting for options etc.
It is likely we will get 2 choices of trim, which is why I hate all the crying about fog lights and GPS in the one package. Here you get base or full house, there are no packages. The only other choice will be colour. I'll be happy with a base model even if it hasn't got fog lights.

 

When is the pricing going to be released?

Looks like some changes in the forum since I last logged in May '08 right after I bought my Prius. I had to sign up again.

And there are a number of other sites. IOW, do your self a favor ... buy it, and then do all the mod's you want. For example, I could have cried all I wanted for seat rail extensions on our '04 Prius, from Toyota. It would have been to no avail. So I fab'd my own ... as several others did. Some even changed out the entire driver's seat. But buying international and then importing? Save your self the headache. But if you do it ... keep us posted.

 

I am torn about the package features - I don't care for leather seats but like the idea of a heated seat and I LOVE the SmartKey feature....I don't know where my fob is usually. It is extremely convenient when carrying my packages to the car to grab the hatch and it unlocks and opens without having to humble for a fob. I don't plan to buy until the '11 models come out so hopefully the packages will be more to my liking.

I have seen photos of the 2010 without a multifunction display. Your pricelist that started this thread days II includes an MFD. Are those photos of the Prius I?

Toyota have decided that the term MFD or Multi-Information Display refers to the vacuum fluorescent display next to the speedometer, not the touchscreen as in the 2G car. The colour backlit LCD screen will only be used to display navigation and reversing camera/park assist, and is available as part of the $1,800 navigation option on Prius III-V. Without this option, all cars get the monochrome LCD CD/radio package, Prius III, IV and V have a 6CD changer with this head unit.

So yes, all cars have an MFD by Toyota's definition, but not what a 2G owner would commonly think of as an MFD.

 

I fully support these acronyms. We need to have a clear way to differentiate them. MFD = previous 2004-9 and 2010 NAV ; MID = new 2010 near windshield info screen.

 

To further clarify Evan's post #431, the MID is really just the box that says "Key not Detected". More interesting displays become available as the car is made READY and being driven.

The Touch Tracer circles to the left of the MID apparently will not be functional for Prius I. Hopefully that model will still have a speedometer and shift position indicator...

I think it actually uses both + & -. Some people have concerns about it, but this Sharp tech is newer and doesn't have the same issues to the same degree. Consumer Reports has some write ups on it.
