Well all cars have a reserve. "Empty" isn't really empty for safety reasons. The Low Fuel light (blinking pip) tells you it's time to fill up (regardless of what the DTE readout says) and gives you about 10 litres (so..2.6 US gal?) of fuel left before you really run dry.
