I'm particularly sensitive to repetitive noises. So much so that I considered buying another car until I read here that the backup beep could be disabled. I agree, there are too many beeps and not all of them need to happen when you start the car. The thread starter neglected to mention that if you've got the Blu-Logic, that will beep when it pairs too.

All in all we have become an extremely beepy society. For those of you in your 40s or above, think of your childhood, and how rare it was to hear something beeping in your home aside from your clock radio. Beeps while out in public were even more rare.

I wonder why people get annoyed with the beeps, the car beeps for a purpose. I think the beeps are reasonable sounding more of a "subtle" reminder/warning and not an in your face honking BEEP.

Different people object to different things! I bet there are things that annoy you that wouldn't bother me at all. I think those who like to be beeped at should be permitted that privilege. Those of us who can figure out what out cars are doing without those kinds of "warnings" should be left in peace. As far as I can tell there isn't a single beep made by my car that tells me anything I need to know that I wouldn't be aware of anyway.

Hear, hear I couldn't agree more, if I hear another beep I will

At the end of the day the beeps are warnings for numbnuts, maybe appropriate for the US market, but certaintly not the UK.

    To the OP:

Try your owners manual, I know it's heresy! Specifically go to the section starting on page 587 on Customizable Features. The specific page for your worst gripe is on page 592, and the manual states the dealer can make the change for you. If you are polite and persistent, they should make the change for you and you will be far less annoyed. My dealer in Richmond, VA at first wanted a half hour labor charge, but with a bit of persuasion (I had not filled out the survey form yet) he called the service manager and the technician came out and in less than 5 minutes changed the reverse beep to a single beep. Now get to your dealer and show him the manual. IF they refuse, call Toyota Customer service and complain (you'll also find the number in the manual). I'm sure they will contact the dealer and explain they should make the change.

Now, having said the above, I agree this was a poor choice on Toyota's part both for the ridiculous beep inside instead of outside the car and not making it an owner changeable feature.
