I have been consistently monitoring this forum for a few months in preparation of purchasing a II with Blizzard Pearl and little to no extras. I have seen several posts referring to sale prices in the $19K-$21K range, some at the end of the month and some not. Last weekend, I was ready to buy and hit the dealerships with my trade in. For clarity purposes, all figures from here on are without the trade. The best offer I received after haggling and getting up to leave a few times was $22,250 with 0% financing ($21,500 w/o financing). We've dealt with sales and fleet managers. Both seem unable to reach anywhere near the sales prices quoted in this thread. We are not eligible for USAA membership (I checked out the website to make sure) and I have to say, I am at a loss.

If we lived near San Jose, we would give those dealerships a try but we are in Southern California. We're close to abandoning the Prius to look for other vehicles because we can't allow ourselves to purchase a Prius for considerably more than what we know Prius Chat members are buying them for. Any advice or revelations you could share?

I am a newmember and I have been looking up the posts on the prius chat for the last 1 month. Thanks for the wealth of information. I am ready to buy a Prius II basic 2010. The price quotes that I have received so far is much higher than what others have payed on the forum (22000+ TTD in the IL, IN areas. Truecars quotes best rate to be 20780). I was expecting better pricing given that it is so late in the year. Would appreciate some information on good dealors in the area.
    Thanks

If you're being quotted a $22,000 selling price from a dealer, I'd let them know that you're willing to purchase the car for $21,000. When they say "no", just walk toward the door and see how far they let you get before chasing you down. :)

Prius II advertised for $21,333 with mats here in the Socal newspaper, Irvine dealership. The current inventory of 2010 Prius' is said to be around 19,000 cars and the 2011 cars are on the way. That's a lot of cars. Incentives have to go up in December.

Just brought home my new Prius today. It's a Blizzard Pearl II with no options other than floor mats
Started with Truecar and used that to negotiate with a couple of dealers.
    What I eventually paid was:

    $19,495 sales price
    $599 doc fee
    $20 Title reg.
    $1,406 tax (@7%)
    $21,523 OTD

Overall, I'm very happy with the price. This was the first car where I did all the negotiating through email and it worked out quite well! Good experience with Team Toyota/Scion in Atlanta.

Nicely done E Street ! That base prius will return great dividends in gas savings that I won't see paying 25k for my IV. Still like my IV plenty.

E Street Shuffle -- Does your $19,495 "sales price" include the $500 Bonus Cash from Toyota? In other words, the sales prices to the dealership was $19,995, then you used the $500 Bonus Cash to bring the price down to $19,495?

Also, could you also please cnfirm your car's MSRP on the window sticker? It sounds like you got an awesome deal. I'm hoping to do the same within the next day or two.

@ Paul58 - My salesperson was Dauphin Butler ([email protected]). Very easy to deal with.

@mshinrockford - the sales price included all rebates. The MSRP on the window says $24,100 (includes destination and floor mats, I think).

Thanks to this forum, especially Gareth, we were able to buy a Prius II yesterday.
Our local dealer in Berkeley matched the price of $20,500 incl. mats and BlueTooth.
We paid $1,995 extra for heated Leather Seats. We have those in our Jetta and use them all the time, so we splurged.

As of Sunday I'm new to the Prius and so far so good. My local dealer in Olympia had 47 Prius on the lot so the choice was good. I ended up with a Prius II with only Floor Mats and Bumper Applique for Options. The car is Winter Gray Met

    The sticker was;
    Car $22,800
    Floor Mats $200
    Bumper Applique $69
    Delivery Fee $760
    Total $23,829 Sticker Price

    I ended up paying $22,750
Less $1,000 rebate for not taking the zero financing
Less $1,000 rebate for taking the 4.29% Toyota Financing
    Total before tax $20,750
    Tax $1,988
    License $78.25

I see where others paid less but I'm pretty happy with the car. Only has about 80 miles on it now and about 48 mpg. Still learning how to drive it.

    Congrats on the new Prius!

If I'm reading that right it sounds like they gave you $2,000 to finance at 4.29%. Hmm.

    Thanks,

I did not understand the logic either but this is exactly what they did. I also asked them if there was any penalty for early payoff and they said no, so I can pay it off any time.

i did that that with my dakota truck 5 years ago. take the financing and get a few thousand extra off. then pay it off anytime. i did, and it worked! i don't know why, it almost seems as tho marketing is puuling the wool over the eyes of finance?:D

It's a dealer add-on that mounts in the area below the start button, not the factory version with steering wheel controls.

Many had it where I was looking but they wanted an extra $299 for the feature. Something that did not interest me nor was I willing to pay for it.
