I have quotes (for Prius 4 with mats) starting $24,300 in WI to 25,100 in MN. The only thing I need to consider is whether I should buy the car out of state. I am in MN. I bought a Toyota earlier this year. What I learnt was that all you need is one lowest price and then if you are serious about buying, just call the dealer and tell them that you would come to by NOW, what would be their best price; tell them the lowest price you have. That's when the best offers start to show. I am quiet till the 16th, which is when I will begin my negotiations; although the dealers have been consistently telling me that the discounts won't increase, but I guess that's their job
Almost ready to buy. Just left the dealer and here is what I am offered: Prius III MSRP - $31350 Invoice - 28937 My price - 25437 ($3500 below invoice) This car includes some stuff I really don't want, but here is the full package: Solar roof package (my main thing I want) Leather rear bumper protector ??? Is this worth anything? carpet mats and trunk mat window tint Toyoguard Plus Protection pkg ??? Is this worth anything? I can see the dealer holdbacks under the Toyoguard description: $476;$238;$533. No wonder they make money even though it appears that the car is below invoice! Any advice is welcome. Seems good to me. Of course, I don't know what else they will try to hide and throw at me when I go in on tuesday. These are AAA prices. thanks sandy
This looks like a very good deal. A prius 4 base which doesnt have much additional when compared to the 3 is being offered for around $600-$700 less than this. You already have the leather, and to add to that the solar roof package. I think you should go for it. One question, when you say these are AAA prices, what do you mean? I am a AAA member as well; are there benefits of being a member?
More evidence that the 2011 may be coming soon http://www.maplewoodtoyota.com/new-car-update-prius.htm
Thank you for your advice. Yes as to the AAA benefit. They have car pricing similar to Truecar.com, which I read about on this forum. You can go to ths site and price the car, and it is supposedly no haggle from there. Try Truecar, and you will see the same AAA pricing. sandy
I did it!!! Just now - I did it. Left the dealership with my brand new, 2010, Sandy Beach Prius III. (And my name is Sandy to boot!) Here are the details: $25,537 selling price 589 Closing fee (couldn't get out of it) 300 taxes 92 registration fee TOTAL - $26,517.50 This car has leather, solar roof, navigation package, and Toyoguard (i did not want that) I think this is a pretty good deal. Thanks to all of you who posted informative comments which helped me in making this decision and getting a good deal. Sandy
Re: I did it!!! CONGRATULATIONS! Enjoy your Prius! And I think this is a seriously great deal. I've tried the same configuration and I dont even get close to the price point you are at. Do share your initial driving experience. I plan to pick up my car on Friday. Right now, I've started to debate between the Prius and the Camry Hybrid . I'll decide at the dealership
Re: I did it!!! Enjoy your Prius! I'm also trying to get a Prius III with solar at the end of the month or on december. The email quotes i've been getting on a 28,800 MSRP is 26,200. Hopefully when I head down to the dealership, I could negotiate to lower it down to at least 3-4k below invoice. I've been checking the dealer lots and there's still a few Blizzard Pearl III's with solar and a lot of IV's. I think this would be my advantage to negotiate hard since dealers are going to try to clear there lots for the '11's arriving.
Re: I did it!!! Tax is only 300.00.Here in California, it would be 2416.00 (9.25%) May be I should move to your part of town.
Re: I did it!!! Here in WA, the tax is 9.5%, It sucks! Hopefully I could itemize my sales tax on my taxes this year.
Re: I did it!!! Good point on the low tax. HOWEVER, we have to pay a personal property tax each and every year on cars. This was new to me since I came from PA where there was no personal property tax. Do you also have ppt every year on cars in CA? sandy
Re: I did it!!! Nope. No personal property tax. But we have to pay car registration annually for about $300.00 to the CA Department of Motor Vehicle. How much is the personal property tax?
Re: I did it!!! Take a closer look at your California Vehicle Registration Renewal Notice. There is a Registration Fee, License Fee, & County/District Fee. The total amount you pay is based upon the value of the vehicle. It is effectively a personal property tax. (Considering the current financial situation here in California, I bet it will be going up.) Keith
Black V with ATP, 30,244 plus tax and tags. Price is after 1,500 rebate so would have been 31,744 before.
I think he missed a comma, as in: "23,000 even, in New Hampshire..." meaning he paid an even $23K, nothing more, and he purchased in New Hampshire...
looking at a III, blizzard w/ dark grey int., w/ navi/solar been quoted 200 under invoice.... $26058 plus tax, license....... in so cal....... Comments welcome......
$20,500 plus TT&L for Prius II with mats only in San Jose CA. Note that there was a newspaper ad this weekend for Capitol Toyota - San Jose for a limited number (5) of Prius II's for $20,688. This price is $1000 less than the best local price provided by TrueCar and so I'm wondering about the accuracy of TrueCar. I used CarWoo website to do the negotiations and so all negotiations were conducted online. Less than an hour at the dealer to pickup. I didn't get a large number of respondents and I had to find the local ad to use for negotiations and so I have mixed feelings about this service. Thanks to PC I had the continuous reverse beep deactivated before pickup.
