Traded in a 2009 Ford Escape XLT 4cyl, FWD, 22000 miles. It had just left it's second puddle of transmission fluid on my garage floor. The first was at 12,000 mi. I came home from the second repair and announced to my wife that we were going to have a garage full of Toyotas. She drives an 06 Sienna XLE. Of course, 32K miles, never a problem. Went to Wagner Toyota in Lancaster, MA. I wanted a 2010 Prius V techno, 34K. They wanted 19.4K before taxes, etc. with my Escape. They wouldn't budge. I said goodbye and went to Harr Toyota in Worcester, MA. Out the door with sales tax, prep, registration fees included: $16,481 including 1K rebate. I was going to pay cash, but the business manager told me he could get me a 1.99% 3 year loan, no prepayment penalty and I could still keep the 1K rebate. So, I am a happy camper with a new dark grey metallic Prius V Techno. As a side note I drove the car 433 miles and stopped for gas today. 9 gallons, 25 bucks! But you guys know all about that stuff
What? You have had 3 Prius and you are ask us where to get a great deal? We should be asking you instead.
I live in Southern California (Los Angeles) I went to Longo Toyota in El Monte and purchased a Prius III without any additional accessories/package for $24,777 out the door. The price included CA taxes which is 9.75%, License, Registration and Dealer Doc Fees. Car: $22,200.35 Document Preparation Fee: $55.00 Sales Tax: $2,169.90 License Fee: $256 Registration: $87 California Tire Fee: $8.75 Total Out the Door $24,777 for Winter Grey Prius III. The car came with the carpet floor mats & cargo mat, door edge guard, and rear bumper applique. Every Prius at Longo Toyota comes with those accessories. I still think I paid too much. Was $24,777 out the door a fair price, a good price, or just an okay price? Remember sales tax in Los Angeles CA is extremely high @ 9.75%
Bought a Black/Misty Gray 2010 Package V that stickered for $31,500 (options - Navigation, floor mats) for $28,400 (which included $1,000 rebate).
You actually did very well, when considering the sales tax. I am SHOCKED at the amount of sales tax you have to pay in California. I just bought the identical car.
I don't know about anyone else, but I'd like some clarification. What exactly does "on the road" mean? To me, it'd be helpful to see prices paid FOR THE CAR before TTL, and perhaps a breakdown of the unavoidable stuff like local taxes, etc. I'm thinking of buying in the next few days and really need to know what was paid for what. Please spend an extra minute to describe what you paid in a clear manner that anyone can understand. If the above purchaser paid 23K for everything, including TTL, that seems like a pretty good price!
on the road means everything included...tax, title, license, fees, etc. i think that number really doesn't matter since tax is different in each state and some don't even pay it. what really matters is what you paid for the car with destination, that's it.
Just took delivery of Package III. Leased for 241 a mo. 36 months 15 k mileage a year. Cap price was 21999.
Bought a Black Prius IV with solar package & carpet mats as only options last night. MSRP: 31,840 Invoice: 29,691 Paid: 28,500 (w/destination) Also got the promotional lease money factor .00117 (2.8%) With taxes, tags & gap insurance, monthly payments are $380/month. I'm really happy with what I think is a pretty good deal. I used TrueCar.com - which I learned about from this forum, thank you! - to get quotes from dealers and used that to negotiate.
23000 was including everything title tag +local tax (7% GA) title and tag cost less than 50$ so you can see that i got Prius 2 with leather in 21500$ I got preety good deal because only 1 deaaler could meet my price
Purchased Friday. Sticker: Prius II MSRP $22,800 Special Color (Blizzard Pearl) $220 Carpet Mats $299 Delivery and Processing $785 Total on the sticker: $24,104 Note: Car on the lot in the Southeast w/o Toyoguard. Added: Window tint Side molding Dealer adds a third year of maintenance to Toyota's 2 years...good at this dealer only. Selling Price w/special color, mats, tint, side moldings: $20,353 Out-the-Door with Georgia 6% tax (tax is on price after trade-in), dealer fee, title: $21,830 Real out the door...negotiated up $1,000 on their original trade-in offer. Got $6,500 on a 2002 Honda CR-V with 105,000 miles. (not interested in trying to sell on my own, so it was all about getting the best bottomline on the new car). Final out-the-door with trade-in $15,330. Should I have been as happy as I was?
The best deals seem to be found in Atlanta area. I was checking via USAA car buying service and the V with Advance Tech Package is cheaper than a IV with Solar. I wish I was in the market for another Prius. The time to buy is now, well apparently in Atlanta area.
Yes, you should be very happy with that price for a 2010 Prius II! You did over $750 better than any price I found in the PA-DC-VA-MD market at the end of this last August. Also, you got the window tint and side moldings on top of it (I'm not sure what the value of those items are). I don't know the condition of your trade in, but how in the heck did you have 105,000 miles on a 2010 Honda CR-V? Even with that mileage, I probably wouldn't have parted with a 2010 Honda for $6500 (unless it was a complete wreck).
I see. Yes, that's a good trade in too. A friend of mine just traded in a 2001 or 2002 CR-V with about 115,000 and got about 6K off of a new CR-V. Enjoy your Prius (it's especially nice when you get such a good deal!).:cheer2:
Hello everyone, I'm looking to buy a 2010 Prius II and have really appreciated reading through this forum. It's been really helpful. I've started negotiating with a few dealerships in my area (I'm between San Francisco and San Jose), and I've been quoted a price of $20,488 (including $1000 down payment assistance with 0% APR for 36 months) before taxes and fees. I've seen this same price quoted in a couple of different regional ads as part of "weekend" or "manager" specials. My thinking is that if dealerships are advertising $20,488 specials, there might be some room to negotiate for an even lower price. But maybe I'm wrong about that (this is my first time buying a car). Ideally, I would like to pay closer to $20,000 before taxes and fees, but maybe I'm just being greedy... Any thoughts on whether or not this is a good deal? And if I could go lower, what would be a fair price to ask? Thanks!
I am in the same area (Sunnyvale) and just got the Prius II last week for 20488 on a Silver. I have Internet quote from 7 dealers around this area and this is the lowest I can get. This is what I paid. Prius II base Silver (1223): 22800 Carpet and Cargo Mat (CF): 200 Deilvery: 760 -------------------------------- Total: 23760 Dealer price before tax and lic: 21488 - 1000 (loan assistance from Toyota) = 20488 0% Apr for 36months, 2 yr free maint.
