It will definitely be an interesting comparison between the CT200h and Prius V. I think the former isn't going to come standard with leather but is going to have some sort of erzatz, treated vinyl, a la BMW/Mercedez. Likewise, it appears like Toyota is gearing the CT200h options much more towards the tradtional luxury/sport market. I don't think the Lexus is going to offer ATP or solar sunroof, but will instead stick with a traditional moonroof and dynamic radar cruise control. I'm actually a little relieved since I would have been bummed out if the CT200h would have had ATP/solar available together (unlike the Prius V).
I looked at pictures of the CT200h and IMHO it's ugly. I don't like this trend of flat roofs that look like the car went under a semi and got smashed. I also dislike the station wagon look of many crossover types.
Since its a lexus, it should come with leather standard. it surprises me so many so called "luxury" brands don't even have the basic luxury features standard such as leather, auto down/up windows, auto-dim mirror, etc. I was looking an Infiniti G37 before the prius, and at $35,000, it blows away the TL, the IS 350, even the bmw 330 all away in terms of pricing and features...plus the 328hp engine really enticed me =)
The Germans have made an art being able to charge exhorbitant prices for their cars, and get away with it. Until just a few years ago, Mercedez-Benz cars didn't even come standard with a CD player. OTOH, to their credit, the vinyl really is processed very well, lasts longer than the leather with less maintenance and, frankly, it's not easy to tell the difference between the vinyl and leather interiors (I once had a BMW 330ci with the standard interior). I would imagine since Lexus has been able to garner a similiar, high-quality reputation over the years, Toyota figures they can take the same, profitable route with the CT200h.
I know I probably got a bad deal, these salesman work me over so easily. I went in the dealer hoping for a sandy beach but left with a blizzard white. I spent a lot of time researching it too. Northridge California Prius 3, package II, Floor mats, blizzard pearl, tire locks, applique MSRP: $23896 Price Paid: $22150 (incl $750 cash discount) OTD: $24699.74 I even made a spreadsheet of all the past numbers. End sales tax. Start a school voucher program, put in a mandatory max wage for state employees including the mayor.
Dont feel bad. What's done is done. Enjoy your Prius. After a few weeks of driving you'll forget all about the price you paid.
Congrats on your new Prius, you got the best color! As for the price paid, as long as you're happy, that's all that matters! Having said that, I'm glad I live in Metro Atlanta being as they seem to be in less demand and available at a lower price. Your gas savings should compensate for any premium placed on the Prius by CA Dealerships!
The Prius is in high demand in large cities in CA. Dealers know this and are not as willing to lower the prices as other states. There are many Prius owners in other states that just don't understand this or the fact that the Vs and the IVs won't get discounted as much as a III or a II. Paul58 has posted USAA price for a Prius in GA. I have posted the same except for CA and it clearly shows higher prices for the CA market. overstock.com which uses the same company as USAA shows even higher prices than USAA yet in other states, it's the same price. CA is big on alternative energy or conserving energy. Anything that's marketed as such usually have high price tags. I know for fact I could have bought my prius for cheaper had I gone to other states. The drive/transporting is just not worth saving a few hundred dollars. It's not cool for us Californians to post the prices we paid for and get un-supportive comments by owners from other states. We get it. Prius is cheaper where you live. It's not cheap in California. We don't have the negotiation power as you do. CA Dealers know we want a Prius in our driveway and are willing to pay for it. Also CA pays one of the highest sales tax amongst other states. I think Los Angeles pay as much as 9.75%. I am lucky that I only pay the state's minimum. But at 8.25% it is still higher than most other states. I even thought about driving to Oregon to buy my Prius since there's no sales tax up there but I reside in CA, I still have to pay CA's sales tax.
I did not intend for my post to be un-supportive, if I offended anyone, I apologize. When I initially posted my purchase price in this thread, it was because this is the "Price Paid" Thread. I actually posted before reading all the way through the thread. After doing so I realized I had gotten a really good deal, and merely wanted to share that information with others on the forum in case they were in the market and were interested in a similar deal. I have received several PMs from folks here asking for the dealership and salesman I had. Don't know if any of them purchased, but if they did I only hope they were treated as well as we were and received a similar deal. Interesting comment being as RV's currently are cheaper on the West Coast than the East Coast. I have two good friends who flew to CA and WA to purchase RV's and then drove them home to GA. The savings were in the thousands and well worth the couple hundred spent on plane tickets, a hotel, and fuel for the return trip. Conversely, CheapTickets.com has one way tickets from L.A. to Atlanta for $89.00, there is a Days Inn up the street from the dealership ($39.00), and gas here is $2.54 a gallon. Yes, it would take about $500 to make the trip and depending on how far you drove each day, and your choice of hotels along the way, but the difference between $750 below MSRP and $3000 below Invoice is way more than a couple hundred bucks... So, it really is strictly relative to the market and what folks are willing to do to save money.
Hi all - I'm new here! I am looking to lease my first hybrid, a 2010 Prius II. Can anybody tell me if the current lease deal on the Prius II available in my area is a good deal? It's $259 per mo., zero down, first payment due at signing, 36 mo., 12k mi. per year, no security. Can I do better or is this good enough to go in and get them to meet these terms? Here it is from their site- Lease a 2010 Prius for $259/Month for 36 Months $259 due at lease signing* Excludes official fees, taxes and dealer charges. No security deposit required.* *Due at signing includes $0 down, first $259 payment, and no security deposit. Tax, Tags, and Insurance are extra. Customer is responsible for excessive wear and excess mileage charges of $.15 per mile in excess of 36,000 miles. Your payment may vary based on final negotiated price. Prius Model 1223, MSRP $23,560. Thanks!
This is what's currently being advertised in our area: New 2010 Prius - $199 per Month / 36 Months / $2,198 Due at Signing. I assume it is for the Prius II also. It sounds close to the same deal because the extra $60 a month you'd be paying on the lease payment comes to $2160.00! So, rather than paying it up front, they just spread it over the full term of the lease.
I really don't know if that is a good deal or not for a lease. I do know that right now the Atlanta area has about the best price in the country fo a purchase, so if that carries over to the lease, then I would say yes, it's a good deal. For sure it's the same deal, they just spread the initial payment over the life of the lease, where they want it up front here.
Without knowing the extact sticker price/option break down and county you live in, there's no way to know how much below invoice the deal is. regardless that's at least 1500 below invoice before the 750 rebate. That's an excellent price.
@ paul58 I too read the price thread and only found 1 person listed the price of a V with ATP. He paid a few hundred dollars than I did so I took his price as reference. I knew that a white V/ATP is hard to find and that dealers wont just give it away so I had to work on my negotiating skills. There's always that "If I had" floating through my mind after I bought my cars. If I had waited a few more days before buying my Prius I would have seen your post and would have given zag.com a try. If I had read the PC dealer section I would have given Dianne a call. If I had waited a couple of months I would have gotten the 2010 close out deal. Hell, if I had waited a couple of years, I would have bought a 2012 Prius PHEV that I've always wanted. Someone will always get a better deal than you after you bought yours. I'm learning to live with it. Now I'm just enjoying the DRCC and LKA whenever I go out of town. Having that peace of mind knowing that my Prius will brake for me if God forbid someone or something jump in front of me is priceless.
Just this week while visiting a different Toyota Dealership, they had a Blizzard Pearl V w/AT Package that was a demonstrator! They had it listed for $27,900, which is an awesome deal on that model. So, yes there will always be a better deal down the road, but the more you wait the more you miss out on the enjoyment of driving your new Prius!
I'm not too keen on demo cars. My local dealer had a silver V with ATP that he's willing to sell for 29,500 which was about 2,100 below invoice. The general manager drives it daily. It has 320 miles. When I test drove it, he had crap all over the back. When I asked to see the spare tire and the HV battery pack (BTW he said it's under the hood) he opened the hatch and crap just fall all over the place. The salesman had to pile all the junk in the trunk into the back seat just to left the cargo cover. The salesman said don't worry about it. When you buy it, we'll clean out all of his stuff. I was thinking Wth Of course you will. I'm buy the car, not his crap. When I check the trip meters, he averaged 32mpg for the 320 miles. This tells me that he drove the crap out of it. I still feel really good about what I paid for mine despite knowing that other markets are selling for 2,000 cheaper than what I paid. Also the Prius I got had only 1 mile on ODO when I took the keys. 21910 OTD (out the door) means the Prius and tax, license and docs are included. It's probably a II with no options at all, maybe floor mats. They don't make a Prius III with package 2. They don't make a package 2. Don''t feel like a sucker. It's an excellent price but it's in NoCal market. You're in SoCal market. I Haven't seen a SoCal dealer doing dealer trades with NoCal dealers yet. I remember when I bought my Tacoma I wanted ABS. The salesman told me that the ABS is not available in SoCal, only in NoCal. He wouldnt do a dealer trade for me.
I'm pretty sure that is before TTL. I just got back from East Bay Dealership (Dublin) signing the paperwork for my Prius II Red with no additional accessories, for $21,400 before TTL. With tax ($2100), DMV fee ($343) and Documentation fee ($55), total OTD price was just under 24K.
