2010 Prius IV, with Navi and floor mats = $26523 (without tax and tag...which will vary from state to state, and city to city) I paid a "dealer fee" of $699, which brought it up to $27222, but even with that, it was ~$1000 better than 3 "local" dealers. I found Germain Toyota of Sarasota through truecar.com. Even though I live in West Palm Beach, they delivered the car yesterday...very pleased with the whole transaction, even though it took over 5 weeks! I declined the "extended warranty" and "prepaid service" plans (thanks to reading PriusChat.com!). I also declined the very over-priced "gap" insurance ($799!!!)...through my auto insurance policy this was $9.00!

We got our 2010 III w/navigation, floormats and the all-important bumper applique (in case we forget that it's a prius) for $24,750.00 at Westchester Toyota in Yonkers, New York. It's Winter Grey Metallic. I used Edmunds, Kelly Bluebook, Carsdirect, Costco and AAA to solicit bids from NY area dealers. Westchester Toyota came in at $24,750 immediately, without haggling. The other dealers insisted that I would be socked with hidden charges at closing, but it was only sales tax and DMV. And there was absolutely no hardsell on warranty and service plans. I was particularly disappointed in my prior dealer, who said "I am going to make this easy, I will give it to you for invoice price." His "invoice" included $1,100.00 in charges for TDA, Manufacturers' Holdback and Wholesale Reserve. He insisted those charges were in every invoice and that the internet is always wrong, etc. I trusted him enough to make Westchester confirm in writing that I would only pay $24,750.00 plus taxes and DMV. I am very happy with the people at Westchester and with our new car. Now I have to figure out how to update my profile on this site.
I had the same experience with my old dealer. I'd bought a new '90 Suzuki Sidekick, '92 Toyota Extracab pickup, and '06 Prius from them, so was disappointed when they wouldn't match the price of a dealer 100 miles away (the difference was the same $1000). I'd actually made the deal with the new dealer over the phone (and it included trading my old Prius in, sight unseen). The old dealer apparently felt that the free lifetime carwashes and oil-changes made up the difference. Several years ago, the old dealer had moved from their original facility to a huge, former grocery store, so I guess they had to 'adjust' their prices accordingly with the increase in overhead. It's a shame because I used to like doing business with them but they have, evidently, since become the same as the rest of the local Toyota dealers.

And is the residual supposed to be higher? Thanks
