Downtown Lincoln has a really good and fairly unique sandwich place ... would be a touch out of your way, but not bad -- just take I-180 into downtown Lincoln and turn left on "P" Street ... it will be on the north side of "P" b/t 13th and 14th Streets a bit west of Buffalo Wild Wings (BW-3) ... the place is called Bison Wiches. This would take you right past the campus and stadium if you're into that type of thing.

As far as Omaha ... a solid place to stop for a pretty good burger is Brew Burgers ... also smoked meat sandwiches. It was featured on Diners, Dives, and Drive-Ins. This place would not be far off the Interstate at all (RIGHT off it actually). I recommend the Cheesy Sacramento. :)

I just have to mention Lo Sole Mio in Omaha as well ... great family style Italian meals! It's not overly fancy, but you cannot wear a cap :) Again not too far off the Interstate.

Just pickup my new 2010 Prius today and made a trip of about 180 miles. The car had 8 miles on it when I picked up this morning. We got 48.4 for the trip. I live in the pacific northwest, in the mountians. I was very impressed as I'm us to driving my F250 Super Duty 4X4 which only got between 14-16 (V-10 engine).

    Hi all,
I would like to report my first tank result.
This was not my regular Prius usage result. I used to do a lot of short trips in the very busy area, therefore my normal number is not so good.
I tried every efforts to drive it for challenging to achieve more than 1000 miles a tank. :)
This tank was the very special challenge, then I'm the first 1000 miler driving G3 Prius in Japan.
Maybe, it was the first 1000 miles achievement worldwide. :)

The TRIP-A shows the tank result divided to three segments.
    Column 1

Woah very very nice! 1000+ miles on a tank! What was your average speed to get that range?

Thank you everyone for your warm comments.

Probably, many people would like to know "how many miles can I drive from the fuel warning to running out of fuel?".
My case was not running out of fuel, but I used following fuel until refill...
    115.1miles / 90.6mpg = 1.27 US gallons

One of Japanese friends found there are approx 7 liters(1.85 US gallons) from the fuel warning to running out of fuel.

My best segment was done during the third pip period, and it's average speed was 48km/h(29.8mph).
It was 52km/h(32.3mph) steady speed using cruise control with some signal stops.

My first test showed ~2.1 gallons (7.95 liters) but I need to repeat the test. I used the trip meter and distance to an error light, which in my case was 'electronic steering malfunction.'

Our North American tanks are listed as 11.9 gallons (45 liters) but I understand the Japanese tanks may be a little larger? I noticed that I was able to put just a little over 12 gallons in the tank. This still has me scratching my head ... no I don't try to overfill ... a second click and I'm done.

I have to finish balancing the tires and re-run the hill climb and highway tests with the current tank of straight gas. I also need to run a full tank of E10, 87 octane since it will be universally available on a trip.

2nd tank = 49.9 mpg ... about 150 miles of highway driving vs 270 miles in town ... A/C running the whole time however since the windows were recently tinted. Highway miles were in the rain.

I am also a new Prius owner- we just picked up our 2010 Prius Model II today. We put on about 50 miles or so driving mostly on highways and in town- averaged 53 mpg and climbing.

We tried a little of EV mode, Power mode, and ECO mode. The route we picked was pretty typical of our driving so I expect (hope) to get closer to 55-56 or higher once we break it in and get used to the car. Maybe we can get higher trying some of the more advanced techniques I've been reading about in here. We just love the car so far!

Tank I'm on now ... almost all city is at 56 mpg. ECO on most of the time. I mix in EV where possible ... mostly just when pulling into a parking lot or parking garage rather than actually around town.

I have been very impressed with the mpg numbers that V owners have been getting!

I saw that post where you saw the Prius V w/o Nav. I had to chuckle over that! :D Now I just have to find one when I get ready to buy!

I will keep monitoring the progress of the V's. I would assume as owners improve their technical skills, the numbers should increase!

Still on my first tank, but have gotten a climb from the initial 43 mpg at the dealer to 50.2 mpg.

I've never owned a hybrid, but I enjoy trying to maximize my FE. I'm driving like I usually do, but being a bit more conservative on the take-off...and braking sooner on stops. I think my kids are getting tired of me saying, "Look kids, I'm charging the battery!" everytime I brake. :)

I only have around 150 miles on the ODO so far, but get very excited each time the MPG creeps up!!

You'll do even better when you don't have to brake until the very end. I.E. glide further and only use the friction brakes during the last 5mph or so. :) Braking is what kills mpg.
