I'm in the same boat as you - Use American Family and traded in a 2007 XLE Camry and the increase was the same as yours. It's good to know that we got the same line from American Family that you did, but we were disappointed in the increase. I would have thought if would have stayed the same or went down.
Mine went down a whopping $32/yr, going from an '03 RSX (type S). I'm guessing that part of that is because here in the Baltimore area, most car thefts are teenage/joyride types, who are likely not that concerned with a relatively slow, high-mileage vehicle. Or so I hope... Speaking of which, does anyone have any stats on the relative theft frequency of Priuses of earlier generations? Just curious. T
Just received my insurance invoice increasing my annual premium by $221 (2000 Lexus RX300 to a 2010 Prius V). Having been with this underwriter for nearly 23 years and accident free for 17 years, I will be looking elsewhere for quotes. Any suggestions on reputable insurance companies for low mileage drivers? I called AAA for a quote this morning expecting a better rate. Their quote was $1244 for six months with exactly the same coverage limits; nearly 3 times as much as my current policy of $431.
Same here. I will also get quotes seeing how everyone is getting a good deal. What are you others using for a insurance company? Peter
My insurance dropped $162 anually. Have AAA insurance and dropped the 2001 Volvo S60 for the Prius. Have no idea why a brand new car is less to insure than an 8 year car but whatever!
I have Erie, and went from an '08 Highlander Hybrid to the '10 Prius, and increased my coverage levels. My premium dropped $7 a year.
from what I heard some insurance companies give discounts to hybrid cars. My 2005 CLK500 costs 1400 a year while the 08 prius gen II is 700 a year. Im hoping that if i change to a 2010 Prius V, my rates would not increase.
