Headlight removal is the way to go for those of us that want to clamp off the hoses and not make a mess. I also now like to replace the ICWP and Coolant Control Valve anytime I have an inverter removed, if they are original or >100k miles. My local dealer has the ICWP (G9020-47031) for ~$130 and the CCV for about $105ish. $248ish total with tax. I've also found the ICWP online for $89ish under (kit) part #04000-32528, which is funny because it is the exact same pump and also includes the aluminum crush washer for doing a coolant swap, yet is $40 cheaper. I buy all my ICWP and CCV only from Toyota Dealers.

Most of our guys don't even clamp the hoses. If you have the old pump unbolted, the hose clamps pulled back, and the hoses loosened, you can set the pumps right next to each other and quickly pull the hoses & put them on the new pump. You lose a few tablespoons, but you'll lose a little even with clamps and need to replenish anyway. But either way is pretty quick and easy.

I found the hoses long enough I could lift the pump about as high as the reservoir or a little higher before slipping them off, and then just slipped them onto the new pump.
