    The red relay is IG1.
    The blue relay is HTR.
The large grey relay is the flasher relay.

Patrick, how difficult is it to trace for a bad ground in this circuit.

Easy. Use an ohmmeter to measure resistance to ground. Get the wiring diagram at techinfo.toyota.com

Ok, after a lot of replacing the fam motor and blower control motor I took my 2007 Prius into Toyota. The service guy need 2 hr to track down the problem. This is the rest of the story. The figure of $4758.43 is crazy..... IMG_9118.JPG IMG_9118.JPG IMG_9118.JPG

I suggest you buy a used AC amplifier and replace it yourself.

My motor started not starting intermittently. After 3 times bought new motor
    Online.
Have not seen the controller go bad. If me i would have installed new motor
First. Used motors are just that.
    Try new motor first.

Patrick, they said it would take 10 hours to replace the AC control Module. The thing is it's a second car that my wife just uses around town. If I had a way to just clear the front window using a separate defroster that would work. Just think of a person paying 5K to get heat and AC in the car. Toyota is saying there is a lot that has to come out of the car in order to replace this part.

Well, the AC amplifier is located behind the center trim panel which runs from the hump on the floor up to the instrument panel, below the radio controls. I doubt that 10 hours of labor actually are required for access and replacement, however I have not needed to do that work. Since that panel is plastic you might be able to yank it out with less disassembly than indicated by the repair manual which assumes you are removing the entire dashboard...

eBay carries used units for $50 or so.

I guess you'll have to decide whether it is worth $500 / hour for you to DIY. I am not in a profession that pays me at that rate, so I personally would make a strong effort to DIY or find another alternative to the Toyota dealer. Consult techinfo.toyota.com for repair manual info.

I wanted to resurrect this thread - does anyone have any directions or support on how to disassemble the center trim panel to access/replace this AC amplifier?

    Thank you so much!
