I dropped it off at the dealer today, which originally quoted me 1950 for the hybrid battery. I just got off the phone with them, and they said they also need to install a filter and coolant fan, along with some other services that would bring it up to around 4k. There seems to be some discrepancy in the originally quoted price and what they are telling me now. Sounds like a bunch of horseshit, so I'm trying to stress that they just give me the battery and forgo there other "necessary" service.

EDIT: Obvious a discrepancy of 2000 dollars, but that was with the added on services. But for just the battery itself, they are giving me a price higher than what I was told originally as well.

Did they give an explanation as to why the price was higher now than when you received the quote? How much higher is it? They're probably hoping you'll just shell out the $ without asking too many questions like most other people out there.

Sorry for the late update: all total it was 3200ish- I got a requote later that day after I told them what I was originally priced. The battery itself was 1950, I just had them replace the fan and filter because they said it wouldn’t be covered by warranty otherwise, so with parts and labor that’s what I ended up paying. IMO it was worth it just to get back on the road, and from how the car is working now the battery was having issues even when I first got it - what I thought was just typical performance of the car switching from gas to electric was just a sign that the battery was having issues. Next on the list now is body work - the tow truck screwed up the splash guard under the bumper.
