2006 Windshield Sunshade

This is the one that I got after seeing another link here. So far I am very pleased with the fit and the ease of removing (just folds like an accordian). Haven't had it very long, but it does an excellent job of covering the windshield. I just lay it across the passenger seat when not in use since I'm usually in the car alone.

 

I bought the Canvasworks shade, and have yet to actually use it, so can't comment! The reason I don't use it is because of how inconvenient it is to roll up and store. The hoop spring shades work much better for me, as I put the shade up every time I stop the car - which sometimes can be quite often on "errand day" when it is too much/too hot to ride my bike. I can stoor the hoop shade next to the console or in the seat pocket behind the front seats. The rolled up Canvasworks unit rolls around in the cargo area and is a booger to put in place for me.

I've actually been using the Canvas shade to drape over my cargo in the back when I want to keep the sun off it.

Before this I had the flexible type that twists together into a circle, probably from Costco. While those are easy to store when not in use, they are paper thin and don't seem to really block much heat.

The UVS100 base material is rather thick (maybe 0.25") and stiff like cardboard, although Covercraft says it is foam. The surface material on the back is a thin synthetic cloth and the front is a silver colored synthetic. Folding it up is easy because of the pleats between the sections, but storing it is not as easy as the floppy shades. I keep it on the passenger side when I'm alone or in the back seat if someone is riding with me. The best part is that this shade covers the entire window! It seems to be quite effective at blocking light and heat.

 

Another vote for the UVS100. Very pleased after around 2 months with it.

 

You took the question right out of my fingers (so to speak). It amazing how something can be both good and bad at the same time. Probably what it boils down two whether you want a roll-up one or a fold up one. It's not so much a problem now in NW Ohio since it is getting to be cooler days, but they definitely come in handy in the summer sun. Helps the dash stay in great shape. B)

 

I have the SunShade, like it because it does reflect very well. It is bulky and I do use my flip down sun visor to keep it in place. In the near future I will be putting some wooden dowels in to add rigidity. B)

I'm with Brian. The Canvasworks sunshield fits okay, but it sags so badly that it is almost useless. I know the good Dr. Fusco operated on his quite a while ago, but not all of us have his dexterity.

Thanks Jonothan...you've answered my question. Please ignore a previous post asking opinion of the retractable shades and apparently "Eclipse Sun Shade" are the best.

Not to put a damper on our shade party but as I sat in the driver's seat I found I couldn't reach the far right side of the windshield thus I would have to have someone in the passenger seat to assist me. Do I have unusaully short arms or do other people have a similar situtation. I agree though the Ecipse retractable $45) would definitely be the way to go.

Question though. The shade is partially to protect the dashboard. From what??? Its painted.

I've used this not only for my Prius, but for my MB C-Class, Acura TL and Acura RL. I love it. I do hate the fact that it stays big but the fold up isn't that bad. It makes up for the fact that when its hot in San Diego or Fort Lauderdale, it helps out tremendously! GO UVS!!!

You don't have to "reach" over to the far side, just open it all up and slide it in. My girlfriend is rather tiny in height and size and she can do it herself without any problem.

Would love to see a photo of your Ellipse shades installed. Mine arrived today and I THINK they when installed would use up about 1 1/2 inch of much needed viewing on both sides of the windshield. I hope I misunderstaood the direction sheet.

Anone else who has the Ellipse shdes? Would love to see how they look.

better check before you use the eclipse shade. My 2007 pri package 6 hasa airbags in the windshield piller where the eclipse brackets are supposed to install, had to send it back for a refund

 

2010 Windshield Sunshade

Doe the Prius Heatshield Sunscreen 2009 fit the 2010 Prius? And does it fold up enough to store beside passenger seat, or does it have to do into rear seat area when not in use?
