Today I saw a prototype Hummer that runs on hydrogen. It didn't have a fuel-cell, but rather a V8 engine. It has three composite tanks that hold a total of 12 pounds of hydrogen, and the vehicle has a range of 60 miles!!! Along with the vehicle, GM was also showing a video that featured Arnold Schwarzenegger saying that by 2010, he wants to have a series of hydrogen filling stations along all the major highways in California. I only hope that they don't put them more than 60 miles apart.

The H2H is nothing more than a concept. GM knows that the vehicle is not practical for everyday use, and will not be put into production. It's cool for what it is - a running technology concept.

6.1 lbs per gallon of gasoline means this thing get's roughly 30 miles to the gallon. 12 lb's of h2 converted to gas into 60 miles.

At first I thought that GM had made a mistake in using the Hummer for this concept vehicle. I assumed that they were trying to make a statement that an environmentally friendly, alternate fuel vehicle didn't have to be a small car. Actually the Hummer was probably the only vehicle that can carry the three huge storage bottles and not give up any passenger space.
