Update: This car is at my daughters college 70 miles away. It had p3006 on it today and [help me with this great diagnostic nugget] ..... The cruise control no longer works.

Any suggestions on where to go next?

The system shuts down cruise control when there is a hybrid error. p3006 is the code that says your battery levels don't match or meet criteria.

Ok thank you, being as how I have replaced the battery - I can contact that shop. This car has been a wild ride, I can't even remember if I had that code before. The battery probably doesn't have 1500 miles on it.

If I remember right, this is a battery from Greentec ($2,100) that was installed by a local installer ($300).

Unlikely that it was an installer issue.
    Likely a battery issue.

Someone is going to have to pay the installer to come back and uninstall/reinstall the pack.
Not sure that Greentec will let you do it yourself?

Also not sure who will pay the shipping?

They are coming in Monday to replace. Kudos to Greentec! Next question for forum is, codes 3006 and 3012 just came on. Will it make it 40 miles home you think?

You might have to pull over and disconnect the 12V once or twice. If its mostly highway, it likely will. Tell her to stay above 42mph as much as possible (even in the city). No jackrabbit starts, try to keep the engine running and the arrows going to the battery as much as she can.

It may make it, but you may damage other components by on providing enough voltage. Probably not, but personally, I would not risk damaging my inverter, etc.

I'm very upset with this whole experience, but praying it gets better. Got in car, drove 80mph all the way home. Cleared code 3012 three times.

The gauge in the video shows that your high voltage battery voltage is too low to move your car. The car is running and should be charging the battery leave it run and watch to see if the battery gauge rises, if it does not rise then you have a problem with the charging system for the high voltage battery. Let the car idle for at least 50 minutes and watch the battery gauge , it should gradually rise to the middle and the to full.

I should have read all of the posts, I gave my opinion based on your first video. After reading all the posts I see you have done a lot of work and gained a lot of experience and I commend you for your effort. These cars can be a pain until you get them working. I hav

It's ok, the post is rather long. I appreciate you checking in. Getting a replacement battery tomorrow. Still not sure what the issues were that lead me to replace fuel injectors.

If I remember correctly, it had to do with the engine misfiring and running rough. I think the spark plugs and possibly an air leak were pursued.

Having read all the posts it sounds like the following happened to the car:

    1) Car working good, driven in a heavy rainpour and then starts to have problems with the engine running rough. Was the gas tank filled at some point during the rain stormsomewhat, also some gas stations have water in their tanks that comes to the top when they are filled by a tanker (turbulance).
    2) The car becomes then hard to start because of misfiring.
    3) The multiple starting ran down the high voltage battery
    4) Changing plugs helped somewhat but if water is in the fuel it will continue to contaminate the plugs and injectors.
    5) The High Voltage Battery in the 2001 to 2003 prius can be run down by many load conditions when the car is not running, your daughter may not be aware of this and creates conditions that run the traction battery down.
    6) Water in your fuel, if the car sits a few days without movement the water will seperate from the fuel and

    7) Car may run good some days and rough others
    8) Changing the battery may be only part of the problem
    9) Others may suggested how to determine if there is water still in your system and how to remove it.

UPDATE: the good folks at Greentec replaced battery and I intend on driving this 500 miles this week to see what develops. Gas mileage is good again (after taking unexplained 25% decrease), back at 44 mpg on a 70 mph trip (and I have the slightly wide custom tire and wheel- so I think this is good!) Code p0420 reared its ugly head again not to be forgotten. Going to drive a little bit and see what develops.
