Unbelievable! It seems like our main difference is color: 2004 vs 2004; $8900 vs $8900; 105K vs 104.6K; Now 200K vs 202K; ... Blue vs Silver
267,000 and counting.... 2008 Never replaced the battery pack Never replaced Lead acid Transaxle fluid replaced around 150k Brake pads and around 180k How do you find lifetime mpg? Oil about every 7000 with Mobil One or Penzoil synthetic. I have replaced each front headlamp once. After being hit by a bear I replaced all passenger side body panels at 65k. 5 Wisconsin winters and lots of sand on the roads...I repainted the hood and front quarter panels as they were getting pitted from sand blasting. I have no color left on the front license plate from sand scouring! Currently it looks almost new as I am consistent about maintenance and repair. I still get between 45-50mpg regularly.
Dark night on a county 2 lane highway. The bear was running across corn fields and just ran into my passenger front quarter panel at full stride. He rolled down the side of the car. $5000 damage. There was a perfect nose print on the quarter panel from impact! A week of repairs later and the Prius was good as new. Tough little car!
That is the first thing my Wife asked...My response was that at 10:30 at night in the dark I was not going back to check on a wounded bear! He was not there the next morning when I drove by so I assume he survived the encounter.
A reasonable decision on your part - maybe the bear became a major ingredient in someone's roadkill pizza?
260k on my 2004 2 deer strikes 1 "Ben Hur" from a truck wheel Minor bumps and scrapes Chin pan pretty rough Front pads @ 168k Rear shoes @ 178k Plugs @ 106k & 220k Optima battery in 2012 Goodrich, Michelin, Michelin, Sumitomo, Michelin, Bridgestone Same traction battery Mobil 1 @11k, now uses 1 qt in 3000 miles Mileage has sagged to 42 from 51 Nexus 7 ? 4
As I merged into the highway, a truck in the left lane decided to move back into the right lane when I was even with his front wheel. You know those lug nuts that stick out? Imagine a router attacking your door... :-( Nexus 7 ? 4
That sucks. And what is with the trend of truckers having long sharp lug nuts on their wheels? Seems like a lot of them have them. Some are really long and sharp, too.
Was recently gifted my late father-in-laws 2005 Prius with 228k miles...all original except for some suspension pieces replaced. Showing 53mpg when I'm easy on it!
