Pleased to report my 2006 just turned over 200,000. Probably best car I have ever owned. I have changed the oil and filter every 5K, using Quaker State and Pur One filter. Put in a K&N washable air filter at 25K and cleaned it every 25K since, no problems. Change cabin filter every 25K New shocks and struts at 150K, although I am thinking the shocks were ok, the right front strut was leaking. Change the spark plugs every 100K Just now changed the serpentine belt Coolant changes as recommended, only thing I have used the dealer for other than recall work. A few light bulbs have burned out now and then. On my 4th set of tires, now using Continental ecoplus, but they will not last their warranty I believe. Original brake pads, fronts still at 50%. Change out the transaxle fluid every 100K. Only real problem was the right front hub started squealing, and I changed that myself. And the cruise control handle broke when I let my grandson play in the car. Changed it myself. And the usual hatch release switch melted. Changed it myself. I have no idea of overall gas mileage. But much better than the truck I sold to buy my prius! And a big thanks to all the advice I have gleaned from priuschat!
I just hit 200k mark on my 2004 on 11/12/11. I put about 5500 mls a month as a courier and bought it sept 2010 with 121k. Since then my repairs and such as follows. oil changes every 5-6k, synthetic blend (whatever on sale) changed plugs at 125k (myself) $ 50 changed tranaxle fluid 123k (dealer) $169 water pump toyota w/ coolant change 138k (free) dealer free hybred battery 150k, from wrecked '07(67k) w/computer $450 + 200 install $650 waterpump drive belt 152k (firestone) $ 75 frt brakes 155k (shop) $175 Lifetime alignment 160k (firestone) $169 lft tie rod end 165k (shop) $110 brake fluid change 170k (shop) $ 70 rear brakes 170k (toyota brand) (shop) $200 bridgestone ecopia ep422 $495 Total $2,163 This prius was owned buy a busy family and did only needed maintanence and probably late, Oil was run low I'm guessing quite a bit. the engine uses a qt every 2k mls. Engine also makes some valve taping noise. And interior had dog hair and stains everywhere.lol. I did clean the cooling ducts for the hybrid battery after it was changed. Other than these things this car has made me money on fuel savings. And I have put in just as much money on other cars putting that kind of mileage on them. Still getting 43 to 51mpg depending on seasons.
Sorry for the delay Patrick. I didn't see the old fluid when they drained it. I left the vehicle in service and came back several hours later.
I have 269,567 on my Prius. Can you please tell me what package I have on my '05 prius? I have everything (bluetooh, Nav,)?

I am at the Toyota dealer right how. My 2007 Prius has 246,000 miles. This is the most amazing car I have ever owned as far as having the fewest problems and having the best reliability. Over the course of its lifetime, I have done the following: -Replaced the oil every 5k miles -Replaced the rear shocks -Replaced the wheel bearings -I am replacing my spark plugs and transaxle fluid for the second time as we speak -Water pump as per recall That's it. I might have changed the coolant, don't remember. I am actually reviewing this thread right now to see if anything else needs to be done.
My 2005 just hit 241,000 this week and I agree I think it could go another 241000! I am amazed with the reliability and worry free maintenance. Here's what I have had done to date...........yaknow, major stuff... Brake pads (all 4) at 185K Rear Struts at 200K Water pump - per recall 5 sets of tires oil change every 5 k NEW hybrid battery at 210K Here's hoping my plug-in gets me just as far!!
I just turned 218K, bought it with 95K on it so I cant say what was done before that. I've done the basic stuff, oil changes and tires. Water pump done as per recall. Just did plugs myself although they weren't that bad. Changed coolants at 195K. I'm guessing I should do the belt and transaxle fluid?
That is quite a vote of confidence, to replace the traction battery at 210k miles. How much did you pay for the repair ?
Hi folks will let me say that I must have just recently crawled out from under a rock, I never knew how reliable the Prius could be. I just recently gambled over 5 grand, picking up an 05 with 213k on it. First ran the vin through carfax and it came back with 51 records being all dealer/factory recommended maintenance/inspection and recalls. Still has the original hybrid battery and charging as it should. The Original engine is so clean you can eat off of it, Drives as if it just left the showroom. I will be continuing the normal upkeep and hopefully get many more years out of it. I normally do 30k per year. I am inspired to hear all the good things here. From the looks of it, this thing is just getting broken in. I did 2k already averaging 52mpg and everything just seems to be running so smooth. There seems to be a ton of tips and suggestions here that I am hoping will help me keep this car running until the doors fall off!
Check the service records to see if the water pumps have been replaced. The inverter cooling pump was a recall item last year (look for SSC A0N). The factory engine water pump normally would not last until 213K but you never know. They can go for a long time after developing a leak at the inner seal, if coolant is added every few months. Look for pink splotches on top of the A/C compressor. The car is probably due for struts as well.
I checked further into the service records at Toyota/owners website, and found out the tranny fluid was also performed twice as per scheduled maintenance. I will try to narrow down all scheduled maintenance performed. The previous owner really took good care of this "baby". I was thinking of taking it back to the dealer just to get an in-depth analysis. For now I just yesterday ordered the scangauge II, just so I can get a little more insight to see if any codes pop up. I had also mentioned the fact that the ICE was sounding a bit loud at idle, almost as if there was a minor exhaust leak up front by the bottom of the engine. Well I want to report that upon acceleration, the noise just disappears and revs smoothly. But I do notice that the rpms fluctuate when in park with the pedal depressed. Can anyone tell me if this is part of the engineering?.
Thanks Seilerts I checked and the water pump recall was done. I also added new tires, I went with the energy savers a/s, I did my own oil change and filter, used mobil1 EP. I changed the air filter and plugs. The plugs were fouled with white ash, used the same HQ plugs. I plan to do a few short interval (3k) oil changes while the engine adjusts to synthetic. The suspension is tight. The one thing I noticed prior to doing the maintenance was the engine sounded a little rough upon cold starts. Seems to idle better now, but still sound like it has a very minor exhaust leak up close near the engine. I will be checking into it. Maybe its normal for this engine, but will look into it. 5P 04/11/2011 *** OPCODE NOT ON REPORT *** 5,000 MILES - 6 MONTHS SERVICE ~|~OIL AND FILTER SERVICE, ROTAT E TIRES, INSP BRAKES, BATTERY TE ST, INSP AIR FILTER, PERFORM MUL TI-POINT INSPECTION ~|~ PARTS NAME PART # QTY FILTER S/A, OIL 90915YZZF2 1 GASKET 9043012031 1 OIL,5W30 BULK W 00279BLK5101 4 WASHER FLUID WF 1 CUSTOMER PAY DECLINE 04/11/2011 CUSTOMER DECLINES REPAIRS/SERVIC COMPLIMENTARY MULTI POINT VEHICL E INSPECTION ~|~ ~|~ CUSTOMER PAY 0615L1 04/11/2011 A0N REPLACE HV ELECTRIC WATER PU A0N REPLACE HV ELECTRIC WATER PU MP - PRIUS ~|~C.REQ SSC AON HYBRID WATERPUM P REPL COMPLETED ~|~ PARTS NAME PART # QTY HV ELECTRIC WATER PU 0400032528 1 SUPER LONG LIFE COOL 00272SLLC2 1 WARRANTY PAY
299,000, thought I would be able to say no repairs at 300 k except the recalls - BUT NOT. Had a high temp fault. Took it in & was told the radiator cap & thermostat needed replaced. Had both replaced - ran for a week (1000 miles) it came on again. Toyota "thought" it was a cracked head. Took it else where for a second opinion. It was a blown head gasket, took a chance had it done along with reseating valves. Car seems good. Mechanic said A's good A's they could tell the rest of the engine was in excellent condition. He joked might get another 300k out of it.
Not mine but a Swedish -07 prius 261 000 miles for sale. (1 Swedish mil =10km) Price about 6400 us$ Toyota Prius 1.5 Hybrid, fullservad /finans | Västmanland | Blocket Thought i might be of interest for someone... Will see if I get time to visit store and look at it, mine is exactly the same, but (much) lower milage so far.
word. if y'all read the owners manual (something no one ever does, but i did when i got my 1st prius-- boooooring!) it says do change the trans fluid at 100k, or 60k under harsh conditions, and you must use only toyota WS fluid. i changed mine at 100k and it was nasty black w/ a couple flakes of metal on the magnetic drain plug. my brother changed it at 160k and it came out nice and red. but any way, definitely change that transaxle fluid every 100k!!!
