If you are only missing the audible alert and the visual on the MID still works would that be a sensor issue?

There have still not been any reboots with the new headunit so I'm cautiously optimistic the issue is gone. Still no cross traffic sound when there is rear movement like there was before this repair. I haven't looked into it yet but yeah could be sensor issues.

An update- I recently took a three hour trip (each way) using Apple CarPlay the entire time and did not experience any rebooting.

Still no rebooting since the headunit swap. We know should have definitive proof that some of these cars were shipped with defective headunits. My audible alerts are working. My car has to be in motion to trigger the alert. My other vehicle triggers the alert while in gear but not moving. So I must have been mixing them up. Not surprising considering I just couldn't drive the prime with the reboot problem. Now my only complaint is the prime apps being dropped with the 5 seat prime. I still say we do a lawsuit against Toyota to get them to stop saying most advanced prius for the 5 seater ; )

Yes I know this is an old thread, but I thought my recent experience with a 11" head unit rebooting was notable. Long time lurker, first time poster.

2018 Toyota Prius Prime, Advanced, head unit E7502. I've had a couple of reboots over the 6 years owning this car, maybe 2 or 3. They were not recurring so took no action. That was until yesterday.

Started up as usual, EV mode with a full battery. Got a couple hundred feet down the road when the 11" screen blanked, then showed the Toyota logo, opening sound clip and "Continue" just like it does on starting the car. Hmmm, I thought. Then it did again at the traffic light. Hmmm**2. Disconnected my USB-connected iPod which had been playing, turned off the audio. And it re-booted again while driving, thankfully with no effect on driving or engine(s). Turned off climate control, made sure no navigation was active ... and it rebooted again. (That opening sound clip can get annoying.) Over the course of the 10 mile trip (all EV) it rebooted over a dozen times, including while parked and not moving but still turned on. Got so regular that I was timing it ... the reboot happened every 90 seconds, give or take a few. Hmmm**3.

Car sat parked for ~4 hours or so. Turned on car to go home and started a timer. Without ever putting it in drive, sure enough it rebooted at the 90 second mark. Driving home, every 90 seconds, blank, sound, back to display. Grrrrr. Nothing attached other than Bluetooth to phone which was not in use. Then, half-way back, a 24 second reboot. (Huh? Yes, I was timing every one.) This reboot was different as it apparently reset itself; screen went back to defaults, radio stations were deleted. After that it stayed on and seemed to be working normally. Did it fix itself?

Back home, parked, unloaded car, checked Prius Chat, found this thread. Went back to car to check software revision numbers and redo the radio stations. I was in "Accessory" mode while doing that, no need to turn on the motor. In that process I received several screens “low 12-volt battery, please re-charge” or words to that effect. So, put battery on third-party charger, re-charging started. After ~1 hour, the charger switched to "Desulfation" mode (“SUL” displayed on charger.) This was the original 12-volt battery, so 6 years old; time for a new one.

Got a new battery from AutoZone; same $ as Toyota, but no appointment, no wait, and free installation. Likely cause of screen rebooting – failing 12-volt battery.
