I agree. I have a 2008 and I am at 173,000. Big repairs were both headlights and the body work from being hit by a bear! Otherwise, just scheduled maintenance and tires when needed.
I have 2005 that I bought used private sell at below loan value! I have few mods and hack, shark fin,ev on cc stalk,block heater,16" crome alloys with Brigstone Potenzas-handles great with wheels and tires, just put Eibach Pro performance lowering springs on original stuts, fenders lowered 1 1/2" rearand 1" front, fenders sit almost on top of tires! Looks alsome, has K&N million mile air filter and I run Mobil 1 o-20 synthetic! 44 front- 42 psi rear,average 48 mpg! Just replaced 7 year old batt. with, New made to fit Optima yellow top Prius auxiliary battery, DS46B24R part # ! HAVE NEVER HAD TO DO ANYTHING TO THE CAR BUT FILL UP WITH GAS EVERY 3 WEEKS AND CHANGE OIL EVERY 5,000! Had the car about 5 yrs. and I am still amazed every time I drive it! Thanks Toyota!!!!

I have a 2008 Prius VI that I purchased in March of 2008 with 109,000 miles. I have had no major repairs but know that soon I will need a water pump, brakes and tires. I'm wondering if it's better to maintain my wonderful '08 or trade it in if the trade-in value can get me 2 years on a 3 year lease for a 2008? I'm just concerned about the allowed miles on a lease.
I have a 2008 Prius VI which I purchased in March of 2008. It has 109,000 miles on it and has not needed any major repairs. I'm getting about 47.3 MPG's and drive about 30,000 miles a year. I love the car but know that I'm going to need a water pump ($450), brakes and tires in the near future and am not sure whether I should keep and maintain my '08 or trade it in for a comparable 2011 if I can get about 2 years of a 3 year lease paid for by trading it in?
well it finely happened.. baby reached 100,000+... bought from Dianne Whitmire, through the On-Line ordering process. I got Pioneer package 3 Sliver, and traded in a 2002 Prius Blue. I picked up the 2004 Prius Nov 13, 2003 at 0830 in Ca and drove it back to Tx. 1300 miles on the poor thing in three days. Things done: replaced tires twice, OEM at 25,000 replace the LCD panel (solder joint problem) under extd warranty three TSB's 2 12v batteries put in a set of spark plugs (not that they needed it at 95.000 ) put in a new PCV updated Nav dvd disc had the CVT and Inverter Cooling system fluid changed, and oil changes at 4500 miles with Mobil One.. and other Maint... items only 150,000 to go
Have 111,000 on an 06 model. Have driven all over Eastern US and Canada with no problems and commute 70 miles a day to and from work. Bought used with 45,000 miles 3 years ago. I Just take it to dealer for tune ups every so often - no problems at all. I think the Prius is a well kept secret Thinking of doing a plug in electric upgrade.
2005, purchased Oct 17, 2004 via Carson Toyota. 110,000 miles, driver HID headlight replaced at 30k under warranty, headlight leveler (on rear axle) replaced under extended warranty at 50k miles. A couple of TSB (service bulletins) did something to steering and water pump; (I think the water pump for electronics), don' t remember. Safety check at 100k miles indicated only 30% wear on brake pads. Original tires gave me 62k miles service, next set 48k (Goodyear Comfortred Touring) still going. Is now wife's city car. Plan to keep it until they make a new replacement just like it.
2008 Touring (two of them, white and brown) 6, 105K miles. Serviced every 5K. HID headlights replaced on white @ 80K. Routine maintenance. Avg mpg: 46.65, Avg cost/mile: $.06, Total CPM = $.038. Comparatively, my 2005 Ford F150 FX4: Avg mpg: 15.2, Avg cost/mile: $0.21, Total CPM = $0.52.
2007 pruis 98.7K miles. Taken to dealer service every 5K miles. I had the water pump (not recall pump) replaced 80K. Aux battery and fob battery replaced 98K. I am hearing HV battery cooling fan making noise. Dealer unfamiliar with servicing unit. Over all excellent car
New member also. Bought my 2004 with 81,000 miles last December and just past the 100,000 mark Repairs: One headlamp $100 A/C evaporator $750 Taillight $ 90 The best part is I only paid $7600 for it. The interior was a little rough but otherwise it was in good shape for the price. It has become the work horse of the family.
Bought '07 new. Just got 100,000 miles today. New 12V battery (failed). (DIY Elearnaid / Optima replacement) New HID bulbs (failed). (DIY - God bless Amazon.com!) New thermos pump (squeaky, dealer repaired under warranty). New inverter pump (DIY, got Toyota to pay for the pump when they announced their recall). Parking light bulb failed (DIY replaced running & turn signals front and rear and license plate bulbs). I've also maintained the car pretty well (oil changes, oil filter changes, air filter changes (just wash the cabin filter most of the time) tire replacement and rotations, new plugs (early), new PCV (early), inverter and engine coolent replaced, new water pump and water pump belt, changed transmission fluid (twice!)) ORIGINAL (uncircumsized) gas pedal! Woot! Most trouble-free car I've owned - I'd have gone through a starter, an alternator (or 2) and at least a set of front brake pads if this were a regular car.
I have two Prii both with over 100,000. An '01 with 109,000 and an '06 with 100,900. '01 story: Bought the '01 from and elderly gentleman in '08 with 86,000 on it. He had all work done at the dealer so I have records of all the maintenance. The only repairs on the vehicle were, wheel bearing replacement and 12V battery replacement. Still runs excellent and avg's about 40mpg. Getting ready to give it to my 16 y/o son. '06 story: Bought two weeks ago from Steve @ Autobeyours (salvage/rebuilt title). All maintenance performed at the dealer. Only the 12V battery was replaced. Still drives and feels just like a new car. Original traction battery. Avging about 42 mpg (winter weather). Love it!!!! Bought my base 2004 with 141k on 12/20/2011. Dealer serviced throughout. Water pump and touch screen replaced under warranty. Trans fluid replaced at 120k. Several license plate bulbs. Two minor front end accidents, no bags deployed, lousy repair with aftermarket parts, lousy repair paint job, couple nicks here and there/in and out but literally runs perfect. Drove it 6 hrs from Cleveland to MD (DC Metro) where I live. No shakes, rattles or rolls. Smooth braking, accelerating. Averaged 48-50mpg. DIY fixed the glove box (thanks to posts here) and replaced LH fender liner. Both strut boots shot but suspension still seems fine. Since I live around lots of speed bumps, will be DIYing strut/shock replacments as soon as I have a free weekend.
My 03 Prius has 127000 miles to date. Feb2011 DTC of P03030 (or maybe it was PO0303) anyway, code reader said "module 18 becomes weak" so I pulled out the back seat & all the felt trunk (Boot) covers, disconected the high voltage orange stuff, took the covers off the big battery and found that most of the brass connectors were covered with blue/green corrosion. One at a time I removed all of the connections and dipped each into a small bottle of cleaner to desolve the green stuff, dry, spray with Armorall protectent and re-installed adding a "S.S.Star washer" for improved connection. On the large connections I also soldered into the clean dry crimp then re-installed with star washer. This took a couple of days of TLC but the only new parts were the stainless steel star washers. I made the cleaning fluid from 1/3 vinegar + 1/3 rubbing alcohol + 1/3 H2O2. Worked great, cost was less than $30.00. Now is Dec2011, battery holds charge longer, mpg average is up 0.8 and no more DTC's... Cool, I love this car.

My 2007 Package 6 (leather and Nav) has 111,111 as of January 15, 2012 - new April 15, 2007. New 12 V battery at 100,000 - I noticed the lights were dim when booting. Also, the water pump recall - did all the coolant and tranny ATF replaced. Took a deer in the Right Front headlight - kept the hood. 75 mile daily commute in hill country and bad weather - 44.3 MPG overall. Still looks and drives like new. Trouble with the right steering wheel buttons - I have a new button part - but not put in yet. I replaced my own headlights - had to remove the bumper twice! Oh, yea - fob battery replaced. Geez this thing is cheap to run!
Today on NJ Turnpike reached 100,000 miles. Averaging: 18,700 miles per year 46.3 Miles per gallon (closer to 47 MPG if subtract periods with roof top box/canoe) No non-routine maintenance yet, other than recalls and Optima 12v batt... but main water pump showing small pink residue (small leak)
