Hit 100k several months ago. 48mpg average. Pretty satisfied.... better than my last car, which got 16mpg =P
Your scanner readings do not make sense. There are 14 monitored battery module pairs (in a Gen2 or Gen3 Prius, 19 pairs in a Gen1) at 14-15 volts each (normal is a little over 15 volts) and they should be within 0.1 volts across the whole battery. JeffD
I hit the 100K mark last year on my 2006. Now it has just over 140K. This is, by far, the best car I've ever owned! To date, I've only replaced the tires (3rd set now), the front (only) brake pads, and the engine start battery. Everything is working as it was the day I bought it new. I've always been faithful with maintenance. The only problem I've experienced is the HID lights cutting out. I have the new bulbs, but I have to find the time to replace them. For now, I just turn them off and back on a few times as I drive and it's fine. If our new governator would extend the HOV lane stickers (in CA they expire 7/1/11), I'd really be happy!
It's a 2001 Prius, fairly new to me. Bought it from a friend who crashed it with no insurance.... I repaired it, and am driving and loving it. She had traction battery replaced at 80000 miles and had regular service work and the rack changed under warranty. Lifetime mileage is 43.3. I reset the mileage when I bought it and have been averaging 45.1 as of tonight. Hit the magic 100,000 as I drove down Malibu Canyon onto PCH. Took a picture!
I have a 2006 Pruis with 103,934 miles on Odometer. No repairs, just normal maintenance. Plugs @ 100,000 Trans 50,000 with Eneos synthetic CVT fluid. Also installed New OPTIMA Battery. Still have original brakes front & rear. Have Goodyear Fuel Max Tires . This is 2nd set of tires. K&N Filter. Have EBH also. Best car I've owned including 2 Mercedes Benz's
My 2005 andyprius hit 100000 yesterday on my way back from Las Vegas, to Sacto. Overall I have been immensely satisfied with the car. No money spent on maintenance at all, except for my own stupidity when I foolishly opened the brake system and lost some fluid and of course had to go to the dealer to get my brakes reprogramed. Not a problem on other cars, the Prius is a exception. Overall fuel mileage general averages 50mpg. I have had it cross-country and back when I first bought it, ran great, averaged 54 mpg on that trip. I took it up to 105 mph across the desert on that trip. Toyota Roseville, has always been very cooperative on any callbacks, problems. Had 12V replaced after owning car in first year, 12V was defective. Toyota replaced battery on a customer satisfaction basis. Great car, I will buy the PHV when it comes out. PS: VERY important kudos to Priuschat for all the excellent information, advice, warnings, etc from all the enthusiast, technicians, hobbyist. PC has allayed any possible fears that I previously had and I am able to approach any problem now with confidence. TY
120K on my '08 touring. Replaced both HID bulbs (bumper extraction drill), front struts, on the second set of tires (got 88K off the factory Continentals), transaxle fluid. Generally trouble free except for the time it stranded me suddently on the interstate due to low engine power. Dealer blamed it on my K&N filter invalidating a warranty service. BS. Used Mobil One almost exclusively, Fram oil filter. Uses none and remains clean for the 5K service interval. Averaging 54 in the summer, 48 in the winter.
Just had 90k maintenance done, now at 103k. Purchased June 2005, usually run up to 10k between oil changes w/Mobile 1, always use Toyota oil filter. This is my first car that is still worth keeping after being paid off. Every time I think my traction battery is getting weak I'll get 64 mpg on a road trip, such as from Pagosa Springs to Albuquerque, via the Jicarilla (slower highway speeds; 55 - 60). Currently my Mileage is down due to the high heat, short trips, & AC but still getting 43 mpg. I'm more worried about the big battery getting hot but it's survived 5 summers. Also, fyi had no trouble starting the car last winter's ski trip over new years (other than the dash would'nt illuminate but a power down & second power up worked) -- 22 below in Pagosa after sitting for 2 days, the tires were frozen flat but rounded up. I didn't know batteries could work that cold. Anyway I doubt I'll be buying a new Prius unless I stumble into a lot disposible income.
Our 2005 just passed 100K miles on the odometer. Very happy to be part of this club. No major problems during this time. Only repair outside of the recalls is a water pump replaced under extended warranty. We're averaging around 47, 48 mph. I took the Prius into the dealer at 98K miles to try and catch problems before my extended warranty ran out. First time I was ever disappointed when they said that everything looked really good
We hit 100,000 miles on July 4th in our '05 Prius! Purchased in February with 92k, new tires and an oil change off the bat, warranty work done at dealership @95k, had them flush brakes, too. Drive belt, oil, and engine air filter at (pretty darn close to) 100k. I'm planning on a drain and refresh of the transmission fluid... soonish. I'm enjoying the simplicity of the maintenance - easy to change oil, easy to change belt, very little engine wear... I just hope the electronics side of this very complicated vehicle never needs servicing.
I bought my Prius in January 2008. Now I have 128K miles on it and have had Zero Problem so far. I change oil about every 7,000 miles. First set of tires went out at around 60K. The second set of tires will probably last 100K miles. They are the hydroedge from Michelin. I still have the original brakes that have about 70% of life left. The key is my commute which is 6 miles city street and 74 miles freeway and this is one way. I drive M-Thu. MPG is about 52. However, in reality it is probably closer to 50. I think Totota juiced my speed meter a little bit. When it shows 52 mph, it is about 50 or 51 as display by my GPS and I have made comparisons with several GPS units with very consistent results. Hope to get another Prius at around 250K miles. Thanks,
101,059 officially today. Took a thousand miles to finish my " hundred grand makeover"...no, not cost, but miles. I revamped my stereo/fiberglass sub boxes, added dynamat to all four doors, added a strut brace and chassis stiffening plate. Hmm, I'm gonna have to add more to my signature... Purchased in March 2004. Mobile 1 synthetic every 10,000 miles. Warranty headliner and steering knuckle and touchscreen and inverter pump. 2 PSD oil changes. 1 coolant change (with the warranty inverter pump, I paid for the engine coolant). Brakes look to be virtually unused. Extremely satisfied. Will be doing a plug-in conversion by the end of 2011...or looking for a factory 2012 plug-in. Cheers!
2008 Prius - Purchased new May 08 July 2011 - 142,000 Replace Oil - every 3K Rotate/Balance tires every 5K Problems: Replaced rear struts - under warranty -98,000 Replaced Engine/Inverter Coolant - 130,000 Replaced leaky Engine water pump - 140,000 Replaced cracked drive belt - 140,000 Replaced front brakes (finally!) -140,000 Replaced plugs - 140,000 Great car!
130,000 Miles Purchased in March 2010 with 68k miles Repairs: Electric coolant pump (warrantied), Headlamp computer MPG: 46 average Impressions: Great car
Well, it's been just over 4 years of wonderful ownership, and I am offically part of the 100,000+ club. My 2007 Prius has been the most satisfying and reliable car I've owned. As a matter of fact, it hasn't been back to the dealership since the day I bought it. All routine maintenance has been taken care of by me, and cost only a few hundred dollars. Basically nothing more than oil changes, & air/oil/cabin filter changes. I also elected to change the transmission fluid twice, at 30K and 90K. After the first oil change I began using Mobil-1 0W-30 synthetic and 10K oil change intervals. I've had 2 oil anaysis done by Blackstone Labs and both come back with flying colors, showing the oil could go further. The brakes, front and rear, still look like new. Original tires were replaced at about 60K. Went with Michelin EnergySavers and love them. No loss in gas mileage, and better handling. Non-rountine replacement items have been the 12V battery and HID headlight bulbs. Both also done myself. I went with the Optima battery replacement kit for a Prius. Nice upgrade. I've averaged 57-58 MPG for the life of the car. Have gotten as high as 61 MPG for a tank, during the summer months. I learned early on how to glide and warp stealth, and how to exploit those unique feature of the car to increase my mileage. I figure I've saved about $11,000 in gas over my previous car, and by 200K the Prius will have almost paid for itself. My Prius runs as good as the day I bought it, and has showed no degradation in HV battery capacity. Pretty much a perfect car.
108,000 miles and just getting broke-n. Took the back of the car apart yesterday and cleaned out the battery fan and ducts. (found about $3 in change back there too Bought the car in January 2011 with 98,000 miles on it. so 10,000 miles in 8 months and burn 3/4 less gas than i did in my Isuzu Rodeo.. Car is paying for its self. Averaging about 43 (winter), 48 (summer) MPG's
Hit 100,000 miles today. I bought my 2005 Salsa Red Package #4 with four miles on it in May of 2005 in San Jose, CA. The only big problem I had was the skid control computer (one of 14 computers on board!) went south at 66,000 miles. It was replaced under an extended warranty, and all was well. I have replaced the 12V battery twice. Not too surprising. Though I still wonder why the car even has a 12V battery when it could perfectly well be using the much higher capacity (both energy and current) as well as obviously higher reliability HV battery. I'm on my third set of tires. The original tires didn't seem to last long at all. But the second set lasted about 75,000 miles. I will update my gas and miles spreadsheet from the notebook and post my 100,000 mile mpg here. It should be around 44 mpg. (We have a lot of hills, and I don't do anything special to maximize the mileage.) I have to say, this car has been awesome. Aside from the mileage, it has been unusually trouble free, a pleasure to drive, and with the seats down it has a surprising, almost Tardis-like carrying capability. I feel I could easily keep this car for another 100,000 miles. On the other hand, I'm starting to think about that Prius plug-in ...
Bought my '06 in Dec. of '08 with 60k on it, now on Aug. 2011 it has 164k miles, I've put 104k miles on it on Southern California Highways in 2.5 years. Have not had anything major to replace, had all regular service done at a dealer. I've replaced the driver headlight twice myself, and now need to replace the passenger headlight. Have a number of annoying creaks and squeaks from the dash while driving. Definitely not the most comfortable car I've driven, but its all worth it for the 46 mpg on average, and with Michelin tires even. Biggest complaint is probably the climate control, it's fairly inaccurate, and all over the place for temperature control. (probably just mine)
