Yeah, I am not talking about this happening in the near future. Just thinking of the hypothetical long term possibility. In fact, some reports here suggest that gas is already being sold below $1/gal as some locations if there is no gas tax added.
I shouldn't think it would go quite back to how it was before fracking. If the price rises to exceed the cost of fracking, fracking can be restarted. This wouldn't happen instantaneously, of course. It takes time and resources. But now that the ability to do fracking exists, the threat of it ought to somewhat restrain prices above the level at which fracking becomes profitable even if no fracking is currently being performed.
At my favorite station, the page that comes with my purchase of 87 octane ethanol-free gasoline (E0), lists all the taxes for the E0.
interesting..I am not quite sure what the law says, but I have never seen taxes listed. Years ago gaso companies would advertize the before tax price and they wanted to stop that.
We related?? Wifey says I live in the past -- I agree -- everything she says goes right past me.... really not the thread for this...but..another '70s pitchman -- Fred Rated -- played by infamous shadoe stevens But maybe keeping this sort on thread, Bob Hope was a longtime spokesman for Texaco when I think Texaco fuel was going for a few bits a gallon. The short video below is actually very entertaining. Well, for geezers, anyway...
The intent was less to do with publishing the tax than not showing a “confusing “ low price before tax at the sign/pump if your comparison shopping and the before tax is shown prominently you might be mad after you get the bill
OK, today the gas went down to $1.94, almost 20 cents down from yesterday. But I will start working from home for at least next 6-8 weeks by the request of our governor to reduce the work place concentration of people. The car will sit on the driveway for a while.
It used to be like this: Buy your gas here: 24.9 cents + 7 cents taxes Sort of like the Izuzu salesman with the fine print
We're down to $1.21 for E10. E0 or 100% is still $2.05. Time to fill up the generator gas jug since we have tornado's predicted over the next 48 hrs. The season is early. We've already got hummingbirds. Sheez.
Probably we got early Cherry Blossoms in DC by weekend. Keep us informed, you may be low price leader. We have $1.50 lowest in Va. per Gas Buddy. We have low gaso taxes, but probably not as favorable closeness to pipelines/supply as you, so we have addon for that.
Cherry blossoms are great to see, unfortunately, it's really bad allergy season here as well and has been for about 7 weeks. Hard to spot the virus folks for all the legit sneezers and runny noses. Here's our OKC Gasbuddy price tracker.
Hovering at $1.77. Here. Probably because people are stocking up. Kinda reminds me of the TP thing......do they think we'll run out?? I'm going to wait a bit before I fill some of my storm cans because I think it's going to drop some more. Planes aren't flying and the economy is getting knifed in the back right now. I'm guessing that prices are going to sag soon and some people might even start mentioning.......................(shhhh!).......the "D" word.
