Negotiating a lower than MSRP Price

 

DEALER WITH $500 refundable deposit:
2006 Prius package #3 @ MSRP
1st choice color = seaside
2nd choice color = driftwood

THREE OTHER LOCAL DEALERS with no deposit:
2006 Prius package #3 @ MSRP (although one seems willing to negotiate price)
Seaside, but call me when ANY #3 comes in...
They've been calling and we've been able to see three of four colors we are interested in. Just need to see Barcelona Red metallic on an actual Prius.

Originally, we wanted to take delivery as soon after Jan 1 as possible. Now, however, we would rather wait a few months. May would be perfect. We'll know more about timing when other things fall into place, though.

Patience is a virtue, patience is a virtue... LOL

Classic Silver #7 on the boat near port, should be here about Jan. 7. To ease the waiting, downloaded and read the manuals for the car and NAV unit. It won't be long now.

 

Barcellona Red, Pkg #7 (I HATE leather!!!), on wait list in early Oct w/$1000 down, "on the dock" 12/29 w/delivery my choice 1/1 or 1/2. Oh yeah, MSRP and not a cent more, plus cost for cargo net and floor mats

Back 3 windows tinted w/lifetime warranty (not from dealer) on 1/3 for $125

Signed contract to buy in late Dec. Which is OK according to the Dept of Energy website:

This tax credit is for vehicles “placed in service†beginning January 1, 2006, but because there is a waiting list for many hybrids, consumers can receive the tax credit if they arrange to purchase the vehicle this year as long as they do not take possession of the vehicle until January 1, 2006. This tax credit will be phased out for each manufacturer once that company has sold 60,000 eligible vehicles. At that point, the tax credit for each company’s vehicles will be gradually reduced over the course of another year

Prius tax credit, of course is $3150!!

 

06 Driftwood Pearl, Pkg 8., January/Feb Northern California Delivery.

I visited several Toyota dealers, but couldn't stand the sales pitches I had to endure.

I decided to place a pure internet order to a non-commission Toyota dealer.
They responded with an e-mail within minutes, saying they wouldn't bother me until they could e-mail me the VIN number of my vehicle. The e-mail said it would take a month or two for delivery. That was a month ago.

Received call last week....car is on the boat --due to arrive in port on 12/26 and should be at the dealer in about 10 days!!!!!!

 

Changed my mind went with the silver instead of the white - Pkg 3 - due 1/10.

 

Waiting for my '06 Barcelona Red #3 with bisque interior... my first car purchase! Just saw (in person) the new red in a mall parking lot last week... LOVE it!
Ordered Sept 05 ($500 refundable deposit).

We ordered a 2006 Seaside or Driftwood Pearl Package #8 in November in Virginia Beach, Virginia. I'm not sure where we were on the waiting list (near the top?) - we are expecting to take delivery in January. After reading the other posts I think I need to call the dealer today for an update

 

Placed an order for a '06 Driftwood Pearl Business (close to Package #5 plus some extra) in Sept. awaiting delivery in mid Feb. early if I'm lucky.

Ordered a Silver Pine Mica #6 11/12/2005, last I heard from dealer it should be in sometime in February. Can't wait.

Jan 2 pickup of Silver with package 8 w/o nav since the dealer does not bring in any cars with nav here.

 

'06 silver or white, package 2 - 5. Put $1,000 down on September 15. North Florida. Just came back from Ft. Lauderdale and saw a white #7 on the lot. The dealer was adding a $4,500 "ADM" fee to the sticker price, plus it had Toyoguard which was another $649. Bottom line on that one was $33-something. I can wait.
