All I did was add a flat washer under the front bolts to raise the front just slightly and thought that little bit helped alot for me.

I took them off early on and they are in fine shape, no major scratches or anything wrong with them, just like the look without em better :-)...
I use a product made by 'Stoner', can't recall exactly what they call it, but come in aerosol can and sprays nicely, it also stays on quite a bit...
