Averaged 45 mpg on trip. Temp mostly in 20's and 30s. Ran at 60-75 mph.
My in town short trips has dropped as low as into the 20's mpg. I just finished a 600 mile highway trip into the wind and in temp in the 20-35...
I'd be willing to bet that 65 miles showing on your gauge would have gotten you home and to the cheaper alternative with lots of room to spare....
I've running them 48/46. Temps in the 40's mostly. On my trip (on dry pavement) to Minnesota this week, as temperatures will drop into the teens...

According to my ScanGaugeII, my temps routinely gets to 198 F and but never higher - Summer, winter doesn't matter. Is that too high?
I think i am just going to roll with the drop also.
Winter temps are dropping my mpgs from 51-53 mpg to the 44-47 mpg range. Snow, rain, slush puts drag on the car, as well as temps in the 20-40s...
