Upgrade your head unit first. Even with stock speakers, the difference is significant. Plus you get more head unit features and stuff to play...

If you remove all the surrounding trim, it's easy to remove the HU.
I got a good aftermarket kit from Japan for about $150. Not too far off and a lot cheaper than the Toyota kit.
