I think it's the Ethanol also, Sam. Ethanol does not provide the same amount of energy as gasoline, so your MPG will suffer somewhat.
IMHO, there have been so many improvements from the 1st gen Prius to the present model, I would not really be looking at a 1st gen with over 100k...
