The 12V battery charges while the HV battery is charging anyway. But of course to start the HV battery charging, the 12V system has to be good...
Correction: that'd be 8 cells in SERIES, not parallel :-). Otherwise you're still at just 1.5V, but with 8x the capacity (mAh).
There has been no documented or measurable advantage to this.
I am somewhat of an audiophile, and I'm surprised at how good the "base" Prius speakers are in my PiP. I'm at least content enough to not have...
I think it relates to the phrase "getting off your high horse"
Wow, yet another Prius color the PiP isn't even available in...
Actually Prius PHV is more like 2.3-2.4 KW (not KWh). Can run off a 15A breaker since it only takes max 12A per the rating (but more like 10A per...
I was in Santa Clara last week and saw a fraudulent HOV Prius drive by. It was a red Gen3 Prius... that's not even a color the PiP comes in! o_O
PiP is rated to take max 12A on 240V. 12A x 240V = 2.88KW maximum. But in practice, it takes more like 10A, or 2.4KW. Whenever I've looked at a...
ProClip - expensive, but usually very nice (see link in my signature below)
The 12V battery is only recharged when the car is charging the main battery too. Once the charging session completes, the 12V is no longer being...
Indeed, I've pulled 35 EV miles out of one charge with these methods :D
Well, it has a power supply and microcontroller in it to run the EVSE functions... those take energy, however small, ya know!
My first thought is "London" :)
Highway 55MPH limit, and I'm not doing significantly more than that except perhaps on a big downhill. This is a one-way trip, but the MPG each...
Yep, this is the "hidden gem" in the PiP, if you are willing to work it. I routinely get 80+ MPG on 100-mile (mostly) highway trips this way....
Be aware that if you are drawing 14A continuously on a 15A breaker, that is violating the NEC. At least you have the proper wire gauge (assuming...
Actually, PiP is much less than other plug-ins. It only will pull 12A on 240V. Volt, Ford Energis, and 3.3KW Leafs will pull 16A. And despite...
See all the problems I reported earlier? I'm running 3.2. :( Additional problem I've had several times now with iOS8 (but not always): When...
Tested the PiP back at home last night and it is happily at 13.5-14.5V now when charging. Woohoo! I'll definitely be checking up on it...
