Sounds like your body shop welded something without disconnecting battery and blew a fuse
Gotta clean the entire egr circuit not just the pipe, if that doesn’t clear it then blown head gasket

Check the battery voltage
My Prius was using coolant and had the same knocking until the crankshaft blew a hole on the side of the engine
