IIRC, the only thing you may need to reset is the electric windows (and sunroof if you have one), same as on any modern vehicle.
Have you tried all the way down and hold the button for 3-4 seconds then all the way up and hold ?
As the ICE has to start up anyhow first thing to warm it up, I wouldn't think it charging the battery at the same time is wasting any fuel.
