No clue about AAA. Costco Canada doesn’t offer a Prius battery, so same story there. I’ll likely go with Canadian Tire option. In the States I’d just check the major automotive retailers. Verify the specs match, dimensions, post size/orientation, ditto for vent.
Both offer battery options based on model, year, etc., and I planned on checking the CCA and Amp Hours. I just remember back when we bought it, there was a lot of discussions about tire and battery brands, but it sounds like any decent brand that closely matches the CCA, etc., should be okay. Thanks once again for the help.
Hi again. Is there anything special I need to do when changing the battery other than connect the cables correctly? Will I need to reset anything, like radio presets, etc.? I’ve changed plenty of batteries in the past, just none in a Prius.
Again, sorry to bother you, but I do appreciate your help.
You'll lose any radio presets, trip meters, might lose window auto-up. I've found I don't lose the latter, but just something to be aware of. There is a simple relearn procedure.
Unless you use a memory saver, basically supply 12 volt to the car for the duration of the swap.
pain in the @ss getting a replacement battery for that JNC660 though. Clore won't ship to Canada, and to buy say on Amazon.ca, battery cost significantly MORE than a full jump pack. Price has gone up for that as well. :(
Yeah, only select Costco’s have the one I need, so I’ll probably go with AAA that includes install. I might even check with the local Toyota dealer, but I doubt they use a memory saver. AutoZone has the yellow top Optima for $290.
Turns out my dealer was just under $216 for a True Start w/84 mo warranty. They gave me a military discount, so just over $194 plus tax. They also said I could start the car, let it run and change the battery without losing memory. I hesitate to do that though, so I’m waiting on the memory saver to be delivered tomorrow.
