The length and breadth of my 12 volt battery knowledge is pretty limited. That said, id look for specs similar to the Toyota battery, which is usually Yuasa. It might be specd in owners manual, not sure. Anyways, it’s roughly 325 CCA, and relatively high amp hours, maybe 45? And it’s AGM type. Up here I’d be looking at Canadian Tires Prius battery, or the dealership one. .
Physical configuration is important too, length, width, and height is crucial, since Toyota’s hold-down bracket is completely intolerant of height variation. If you’re going to be swapping in a parking lot have a few washers, to shim as needed.
Thank you so much!
I went on the Toyota used parts website and bought a battery from them. Using the search portal, they said the battery would fit. When I tried installing it today, it didn't fit perfectly but I still installed it anyway and the car is working.
However, the battery is on an angle & the Red Triangle (of death) accompanied by the Car with the exclamation point showed up and is still there. Is this a problem?
I used a $30.00 lawn mower battery in my '05 Prius for at least 3 years. I would have done the same in this 2013 Prius but a friend gave me his used HONDA CRV battery, and when that failed my son shamed me into buying a similar replacement = size 51R or R 51.
