    gen 3 is 2010-2015, but pip is 2012 - 2015. then i think there was another delay, and prime came out after gen4.
    i would buy the lowest mile pip i could find, because they have the same egr/head gasket, inverter and brake actuator issues as all gen 3's.
    if you can find a late 14 or 15, the pistons and rings were updated, which is a help.

    Continuing this chat. Seems like we both are shopping for a Model 3 LOL. I'm planning on december of this year end of Q4 and hopefully after the highland launch.

    Elon is always late...nothing new. What I don't like is that the M3 has no spare donut tire at all. I plan on buying a $489 complete wheel tire jack and lug nut tool for mine. Teslas eat tires. like 30K miles if your lucky and about $1,000 for a new full set installed. Something to consider. I

    will install my own L2 charger in the garage for just the cost of parts so that will save me money to spend on tires down the road I guess. Im looking at EAP but don't want to pay for FSD. What are your plans?

    Get a 15 if you can, that was the last year and has the updated pistons and rings. Also late 14, if you get the right vin.
    Earlier than that you might want to check the head gasket
