I could sell mine and vote the way I want anyway. Ballots are sealed in envelopes no one knows except me. I don’t think the paper ballot itself has my name on it. I always ask this question, look at the paper ballot when I vote by mail, but forget. I don’t think it does. As a guess musk is selling his vote on the promise to get the inheritance tax eliminated.
(***) Some "sources" post 2020 are understandably trying to 'memory hole' this cite. From Snopes: While it would be a bit of a stretch to assert (given the vagaries of translation, the unreliability of memory, and the existence of earlier examples) that the sentiment “The people who cast the votes decide nothing; the people who count the votes decide everything” originated with Stalin, there is at least some evidence that he once said something like it.
In Russia it’s probably still that way. There are safeguards in the USA, plus audits and recounts. Even if the party trying to retake the oval office this year tries to cheat, it won’t happen.
There will be the usual faithless electors (more on one side that the other.) HOWEVER (comma!) Anyone who believes that our democracy is fragile enough to be threatened by a riot is probably also foolish enough to believe pre-revision economic numbers.
